Just realised someone has completed the ultimate nerd dream

Post by 2000AD »

Christopher Lee has starred in both Star Wars AND Lord of the Rings.

Is there any other nerd dream that's bigger than that?

He was also in the same movie with two other Sith Lords with Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow.

Ian McKellen was in Lord of the Rings and X-Men.

Patrick "Captain Picard" Stewart is Professor Xavier, oddly enough he was the one picked by Wizard magazine all those many years ago as their favorite for the role.

Sort of sums up the community well doesn't it? Thank you Mr. Lee for a nice breath of fresh air on this stuff. God, that's a funny ass quote. Made even funnier because I could see a thread like that started here.

I think just about everyone actually interested in seeing an X-Men movie had Patrick Stewart as Xavier.

Well, we are a bunch of halfwits for talking about such things. We've already had a Saruman vs Count Dooku thread, ffs! :)

On one of the TTT extra discs, Christopher Lee mentions that he reads all of LotR at least once a year.

According to his IMDB bio he's a Commander of the Order of the British Empire. I'm not at all familar with all the different Orders of this and that but is that not a form of Knighting?

...Which speaks volumes about the values system of the community.

I think Keanu Reeves deserves acknowledgment: the Matrix series, Constantine, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Johnny Mnemonic, Bram Stoker's Dracula (if you also consider Christopher Lee's vampire roles as geeky), the upcoming A Scanner Darkly...

Of course, his more correct trend of films is a Buddha Complex.

Not really. CBE is relatively obscure, not to mention, absurd (what with the Empire not existing any more.)

Yes. Generally you're an OBE ("one ball enlarged"/Order of the British Empire). A CBE is a step up.
