Assuming for the moment that Palpatine isn't evil.
The war is over, he turns over power back to the senate, all is well with the galaxy again, sort of.
What happens to this massive army and fleet, now that is isn't going to be turned into the empire?
What would the republic do with its new found big stick?
Personaly I see a shit load of internal disputes about which sectors and governments get how much of the fleet and troopers leading to angry yelling in the senate.

Massive, massive if. To find more evil fictional characters, you have to find the likes of Davros or The Master.Zed Snardbody wrote:Assuming for the moment that Palpatine isn't evil.
Ahahhahahah. The war is over, he turns over power back to the senate, all is well with the galaxy again, sort of.
The soldiers get pensioned off, refuse to go, and die young in the end. The fleet is decomissioned due to budget cuts. What happens to this massive army and fleet, now that is isn't going to be turned into the empire?
Drown it in paperwork. What would the republic do with its new found big stick?

If Palpatine wasn't evil, there would have been no Separatist movement and no war, hence no Clone army, hence no problem.

Indeed, but assuming the whole scenario hadn't been one elaborate charade to gain power, I'd expect the military would be shrunk somewhat in size and left as a guard force for Republic planets and act as a patrol force against piracy etc.GeneralTacticus wrote:If Palpatine wasn't evil, there would have been no Separatist movement and no war, hence no Clone army, hence no problem.
