Damn, in place of duck I meant kneel- tho they duck too.Vympel wrote:What were they supposed to do ... strafe like they were in Doom or something? I suppose you expect them to jump up and down like it's Counterstrike or something .... soldiers in reality do the following things
1- follow orders
2- duck
3- lie prone
4- shoot
that's it.
Clones immensely superior to droids

No,I would expect something better than advancing shoulder to shoulder like if it was a Napoleonic era battle.BTW what is Doom?Vympel wrote:What were they supposed to do ... strafe like they were in Doom or something? And when did they kneel?

They weren't shoulder to shoulder during the fight. They were running together as squads, but they weren't acting like they were fighting with muskets. When a Hailfire droid fires a missile at an AT-TE, and the camera tracks the missile as it slams into it, you can see a pair of clonetroopers kneeling and firing- one of them turns around to see the explosion.Admiral Piett wrote:No,I would expect something better than advancing shoulder to shoulder like if it was a Napoleonic era battle.BTW what is Doom?Vympel wrote:What were they supposed to do ... strafe like they were in Doom or something? Well I got that impression. But in anyway still I do not see their tactics being much better than droids ones.Vympel wrote: They weren't shoulder to shoulder during the fight. Not in that instance no- that was superior firepower and support on even ground- not much place for tactical innovation. In Desert Storm, you wouldn't see infantry acting much different on the offensive. Stay near your armor support once you egress and hope you don't get shot really. Actually you have to wonder at the stupidity of the droid army. They could've dug trenches/ foxholes etc and let them enemy come to them, except they idiotically waded right into a superior force and were annihilated. It was a classic set-piece battle.
Doom was released in 1993, developed by ID, and was the first game of the massive First Person Shooter genre- although Wolfenstein 3D came before it, and was also by ID, it was Doom that started the craze. ID has also released Doom 2 (same engine, just more content), Quake, Quake 2, Quake 3, and is now making Doom 3.

Dugging trenches with the droids that were just rolling off the production lines and against an enemy which had the control of the air from the first minute? Besides even assuming that it was the best option the order of entrenching should have come from the central command (read the beer cans salesmen of the trade federation).Admittely I am not an expert about mechanized infantry tactics but I am somewhat sceptical.Vympel wrote:Not in that instance no- that was superior firepower and support on even ground- not much place for tactical innovation. Still you are correct, the clones have won thanks to better support.
