Does this sound right?

Post by Darth Balls »

I have decided I wanna start reading the expanded universe books again. Around '97 or so I just got fed up with some of the bad books that were comming out and simply stopped reading. Up till that point I had read pretty much all of them. But as you can see I am EXTREMELY far behind. I don't even remember the name of the last book I read, I do remember seeing that "I, Jedi" came out shortly after I stopped. I know I havent read that one. I also heard Luke married Mara Jade. Dunno when that happened. I'm thinking of just starting at Vector Prime since it supposedly is the start of a new era. Does this sound about right?
And I need to find out the order in which to start reading again.

The NJO is sort of an acquired taste. You may love it, but you may despise it. I personally enjoy the books; the recent batch of books have been rather good.

Don't bother. The NJO is as crappy as the rest of them. I'd check out Specter of the Past and Vision of the Future by Zahn. They're the only good ones you probably missed.

I dunno I just remember reading this one star wars book and it was so terrible I didnt even want to finish it...I did finish but it was the last one I ever read.
I have finals in like 2 weeks so after that there's going to be a lot of time for me to read them.

If you didn't like the EU up till now you won't like the New Jedi Order. I wouldn't bother looking into them.

Before there was light; there was glory; there was the Holy Trinity - the Zahn, the Stackpole, and the Aaron Allston.

And then came the dark times. Keven James Anderson - Vonda McIntyre -Barbara whatist- and the SW EU has sunk deep into the mire, a pit of shit and villiany only slightly better than that other EU.

It is a dark time. Live in fear.

I would read SbS, first. It's by far the best book of the series, so you can see if the plot-holes that the series has are too great for you, or if you can deal with it enough to plod on through.

The Thrawn Duology is good, SBS-Traitor is good minus Dark Journey. Possibly skip Destiny's Way, I have yet too read. Force Heretic might be good hen i comesout I dunno.

Yeah, Dark Journey makes the baby Jesus cry (sorry, couldn't resist). Do not read it under any circumstances.

Destiny's Way is worth a read for the stunning victory over the Vong.

Skip all of the NJO up to Star By Star; it fills in everything you missed just fine. Skip Dark Journey but read Rebel Dream and Rebel Stand, maybe Traitor and then Destiny's Way.

My feelings are mixed on Traitor and you can get away without it, the key parts are explained or at least mentioned in Destiny's Way.
