Simple tricks & nonesense
Han Solo's skeptical line about the Force got me to thinking of something that might be fun...
Let's say you wanted to pass yourself off as a Jedi/Sith in the time after the Jedi Purge (doesn't matter when, let's say you wouldn't be immediately executed, it's a big galaxy and the Empire, if it's still around, thinks the Jedi are extinct) for some wild crazy reason (fun, profit, whatever). Could you simulate Jedi abilities with technology and other tricks?
It seems as if the Star Wars universe (and especially in the EU) we have tech that would afford a pretty good simulation of many of these abilities. Other Jedi abilities are found in some of the various alien races naturally.
For example, a micro-tractor beam/repulsor generator for telekinesis. Spice could be used for 'mind powers.'...
Obviously a real Jedi/Sith would detect your deception, but how well would the disguise work on anyone else?

Okay, brace yourselves. Ready? KJA. Still with me? Junior Jedi Knights. Haven't vomitted yet? Good.
I think it was the last book in the series, but it featured Anakin on an abandoned space station with a bunch of Ranats, and a guy using holograms and sparklies to pretend to be a Jedi. He actually got Anakin to believe he could teach him super Jedi powers that no one else could. /:lol:

Are you sure this isn't like that time Michael Jackson stopped by your house so he could use the bathroom? - Superman

If I remember correctly, I think I read in the New Essential Guide to Characters that Darth Vader hired this really good actor to try and fol Luke into thinking he was a Jedi, basically using all orts of tool and trinkets and that sort of stuff, so Vader could then come in and catch him. Something to that affair, I think.
This has been another blunder by you friendly local idiot.

Also the guy from the Glove of Darth Vader series used tech to mimic force choke and lightning, as well as a few other tricks.
The books shouldn't be cannon, but I think they are

Sorry, I should have been clearer. A bad guy terrorizes the locals, using tech tricks pretending to be Sith. Fett takes him out for cold hard cash, explaining (briefly), the guy was using tricks. "He wasn't Sith. I know Sith. He gloves were wired."

How much prep time are we talking about here? Are we doing this on the fly (ie: you have to have all the gadgets on you) or more deliberate? (install tiny repulsors onto objects)
I think that you really wouldnt need much to trick people into believing you are a Jedi, if you have a lightsaber (those tend to go hand in hand.)
There are tricks that regular people can do to make it appear that they have special powers (ie: Sleight of Hand) as well as many mind altering and enhancing chemicals (Truth Serums, Glitterstim).
I would say that TK would require the most preparation and technical gadgetry, I actually can't think of anything off the top of my head.
The other aspects would probably be done a bit easier, a hypo dart here, some discreet glittersim there etc.

For lightning, it should be simple. choke, use a pair of electro magnets. fire themm so they are around his throat. turn on the magnets so they zoom in and choke him. Speed, mechanics on your legs that go really, really fast. push and pull, magnets or repulsors. the hard part is concealing the battery.
WWDD What would dogbert do?
Simple Tricks... In "Tales From The New Republic" is a story by that name, where Ghitsa Dodger plays Jedi to locals in an "agricultural blackwater".
Robe, fake lightsaber, rigged sabacc deck and small repulsor inside of a fruit with remote control where mentioned.
Ended when Dodger was captured, but that had nothing to do with the play.
