Anakin in TPM/AOTC

Post by Imperator Galacticus »

Sorry if this has been done before. I've been wondering about this for some time, on what would've happened if Dark Jedi Anakin (i.e. before being thrown in the lava pit, but after being converted) replaced the positions of Darth Maul and Tyranus during the lightsaber fights in both of these prequels. Dark Side Anakin's objectives are still the same respectively for each movie.

For his TPM scenario, he must kill both the Jedi in the generator room, then go back in the central palace and destroy the Queen and her attendants (consider his attachment to Padme irrelevant here). For AOTC, he must simply kill his younger apprenticed self and his former master, then escape back to Coruscant. How would each scenario turn out this time?

Qui-gon and Obi-wan are two of the best pre-OT Jedi, and this is before Sidious does his mojo on the Force. Anakin could probably take them out... *if* he's smart enough to tackle only one at a time. I'd imagine he could dispose of Obi-wan without too much trouble, but Qui-Gon would be another kettle of fish entirely, as he's an experienced fighter and undoubtedly has a bunch of tricks that Jedi couldn't employ after the Shroud of the Dark Side came down upon the Force.

Against Obi-wan and younger Anakin, hard to tell. If he can capitalize upon his younger self's aggression, he can probably just cut him down, but Obi-Wan is much more iffy. And Yoda... well, it wouldn't be pretty...

I'd say that indeed Anakin is definetly a more powerful fighter than Maul and would win in TPM.
However he still wouldnt have a chance against Yoda especially before the shroud reached it's height.

Vader (to distinguish them) slaughters TPM Obi-Wan and then it'd be a close fight. I'd put Vader for the win, though, barely.

Vader could handle his younger self, and probably dice Obi-Wan if he was careful, but Yoda is going to hand him his head on a platter. Almost guaranteed his Force powers aren't equal to Yoda's, and Yoda is probably faster than he is with a lightsaber.

I'd say this is a double-win for Dark Anakin and i also dare to say, that even Yoda wouldn't have a chance.

It depends how developed Anakin's dark side abilities were. I mean, if he was at like ANH Vader level of Dark Side controll, I bet he could easily take on Yoda and the lot, because in comparison to what we saw Sidious do in ROTS, I think Vader is easily able to demonstrate at least that much power.

However, don't forget the Shroud of the Dark Side's effects-- they don't quite kick in till AOTC, and they aren't at their prime till RoTS.

Also, Anakin's Dark Side abilities were undoubtedly very basic at this point-- he had quite literally only been turned a matter of *hours* before. It's not like he had even a few days to train under Palpatine, learn any tricks or anything.

Would Dark Side Anakin really have fared that badly against Yoda? Qualitative viewing would suggest that he would not have been able to hold his own, but recall that Dooku held Yoda off.. yet Anakin defeated Dooku. I think if he controlled his over-impulsiveness, even Yoda might have fallen to Anakin.. and although this isn't the topic, even Sidious might have.

I'm pretty sure Vader could also out-do Maul's achievements.

Dooku didn't hold his own against Yoda. It was a similar situation to the Mace/Palps fight. Dooku didn't get diced immediately, but it was fairly clear that he was not going to win their exchange if it continued. You'll notice that he didn't attack Yoda when he pulled his stunt with the pillar, he bailed for his ship first the chance he got. I'd say it would be a close fight between Anakin and Yoda, but I still put my money on the green dude for the win, if barely. It would really come down to their control of the Force, which, while Anakin might pack more raw power, Yoda has a lot better focus and control. Anakin is also impulsive and he loses control easily, which would put him at a serious disadvantage.

Yoda almost defeated the Emperor, who was certainly more powerful than Anakin-Vader was during ROTS, so I'm betting Yoda could take him down.
