Let's just say that when you set out to find inconsistencies, you will tend to "discover" a helluva lot more than if you set out to rationalize the situation.

True, but that is merely process inefficiency, and is not what we were talking about.

Much as you would like to believe that Bob Brown has not lost his grip on reality, I brought up the issue of human body inefficiency. He retorted with a balloon analogy, arguing that the air inside a balloon must constantly expend energy in order to exert pressure against the balloon wall. Other examples such as springs were mentioned, and in every case, he insisted that some kind of energy must be constantly expended in order to maintain this constant application of force.
I should probably mention that, in a system with no external forces, the application of force will increase an object's kinetic energy 100% of the time. But, if no actual displacement has occured, then the object's kinetic energy state remains the same, so no energy has been injected into the system. Energy may have been spent, and it went somewhere, but it didn't go where it was supposed to.

Of course, Bob Brown has apparently never heard of bouyancy...
