The Chancellor requested I should go...(Rarr)

Post by Nieztchean Uber-Amoeba »

Yet another Episode III hypothetical scenario from me: When the Jedi Council learn of Grievous' hideout on Utapau, Anakin mentions Palpatine's wish for him to go, and the rest of the council nods and says 'Aye'. Thus, he will never inform Mace of Palpatine's true nature, and Order 66 may not be activated so early. But can he even defeat the General?

And since I'm so interested in this, another scenario along the same vein. When Mace smacks down Anakin in the Council about the mission, everyone agrees that Mace, the sole Jedi ever to have defeated Grievous, should go. Of course, later, when Anakin informs Kenobi rather than of Palpatine being Darth Sidious and asks to go, it is likely that Obi would agree and get Anakin and a few other saber fodder masters to come arrest the chancellor.

So how would the universe play out if these things happened? Discuss.

I highly suspect Anakin would be capable of such a feat. As for reprocusions, Palpatine likely uses the time to eliminate Obi-Wan from the picture, and activates Order 66, careful to make sure the troops on Utapua don't kill Anakin. Likely, the end result is the same, except without cyborgified Anakin (although it is possible that Mace might fight his way away from the temple and face down Palpatine, or Anakin might refuse to join him, but I find both possibilities unlikely.)

In this situation, I think its less likely that Anakin would turn. However, its anyones guess as to whether not Obi, Anakin, and the three other masters could take Palpatine down with Mace absence (I'm leaning towards no.) Whatever happens, Palpatine's plans are really screwed up.

Just out of curiosity? How do you think Palpatine could eliminate Obi Wan from the picture?

Probably either by catching him in the Temple when Order 66 is activated, or seeking out and killing him personally, to make sure the job gets done (the former is more likely IMO.)
