If it had been the armour, then there would have been a pretty explosion at Vader's hand, or at least more fireworks than what we saw.

There has to be some Force element to it. I mean Stromtrooper armour for crying out loud, is next to useless against Han's blaster, so if Vader's (who has been around for nearly as long as the Stormtroopers) glove is resistand to blaster fire why in the name of all things reasonable wouldn't the Stormtrooper's armour be just as resistant.

And as for I Jedi, that whole 'abosorb energy' being rare is just fucked up, for the simple reason that blaster's aren't just pure energy (laser) weapons, the have a particle base to them.... Well if anyone wants me to go on, I will start another thread on this.

Turbolasers? Sorry, I meant to say blasters. Although he MIGHT be able to push away turbolaser bolts as well. Let me crank up the game and give it a shot...
You can indeed force push blaster shots (not back at the shooter of course, they go off in a random direction), but it's a totally useless skill in JK2 (Jedi Oucast). Even at the highest skill level, you can only block about 1 in 10 shots, and since it never goes toward the shooter, you just end up dying when you try.

Force Pushing missiles and energy mortars (from the Flechette Launcher), now there's a useful combat skill. ; )

This topic reminds me of a certain book called the Glove of Vader....
It claimed that Vader stopped the blaster bolt using his magic glove.
Of course, everything else states it was the Force.
And the Glove of Vader sucked ass.
So there.

I rarely hate SW books, but that one made me want to break out the flamethrower.

OH! I just thought of something. If Vader tried to absorb the bolt, the energy would still have to go THROUGH the glove, right? That might explain the scorching.

OLD TOPIC.
God forbid I haven't been involved in SW discussion since 1979. (well, okay, 1983 or something, whenever ESB came out, but still)

It's possible that there's a cost issue; yeah, for one suit it might not be a big deal. But for all of those stormtroopers out there? That could really add up. It could also be a rare material that couldn't be produced or found in large enough quantities to outfit every Stormtrooper with.

I'm willing to accept there was Force trickery afoot. It does seem odd that Han would aim at Vader's hand, of all places.

Can't blame the authors, the book was meant for 8 year olds.

That's generally the reaction people get when they read that book....
and to the people who though it wasn't pure crap, I suggest therapy before any brain damage happens.

In an old childrens Star Wars book(Got me on the star wars novels) stated that that glove was indistructable, and survived the fall into the DSII core. Ofcourse I'd be surprised if this book was with in a mile of offical.

I thought Push 3 sends the blaster shots back. But it's pointless against multipple enemies, since I have Mind Trick 3.

No, they are no Force Adepts that have rocket launchers, are there? Unless you fire it...

On the Yavin canyon level, there's a part with a scout walker, 5 laser cannons, a rocket trooper, and a shadowtrooper. Try to Push back the missile, and the missile goes to the shadowtrooper instead. Yeah, I play that level on foot.

I hate that level. It was almost cool to have the damn AT ST but then again the AT ST level in Rogue Squadron is funner. heh. I never knew you could Force push any laser blast. By the time you start using the Force in either game you have the lightsabre, and it'll deflect all of the shots. so there. and you can get them back at the guy.

Thanks for clarifiying, I was talking about Multiplayer, I have never tried it in SINGLEPLAYER actually.

The AI characters usually don't fire that fast for sustained periods (like human players and bots tend to) so blocking those shots might be easier, and there are many differences between sp and mp.

The core concept is probably similar though.

Kyle Katarn of course is the perfect character to use in these games.. because he's basically Rambo meets Yoda when it comes to combat. A force user with a gun would be far more deadly than a non force user with a gun, think about it! ; )

Which reminds me, I might as well shill my strategy site on JK2, in case anybody cares... ; )

(multiplayer based, I'm sure you can find a billion SP walkthroughs on the 'net if you look hard enough)
