Thought Bomb

Post by ViciousMink »

In a couple of EU sources, there's talk about the last battle between the Jedi and the Sith, many centuries before the movies. In the battle of Ruusan, the Sith set off a 'thought bomb,' which apparently took out most of the Sith *and* Jedi in the area and caused a lot of devastation.

It just occurred to me that, perhaps, this is what the Emperor did when he blew up at the end of ROTJ. A last-ditch attempt to take vengeance on the father-son tag-team that had done him in. Maybe as he was falling he formed, created, and set off a thought bomb, which would explain the explosion, and possibly also why Vader was a hell of a lot weaker after he threw the Emperor over the side of the shaft. (Though admittedly, it's more likely that the Emperor's lightning zapped out his life support relays. But, IIRC, we don't see Vader collapse against the railing until after the Emperor blows up real good....)

Ah, well. It's just a thought. I know Lucas didn't have 'thought bombs' in mind when he directed that scene. :)
The Jedi asked, "What is balance for me as a servant of the Light?" The Master replied,"Balance is not what you seek. For you it is accepting that destruction is a part of the universe."

I do recall reading one SW EU comic about the battle between Exar Kun and the Jedi. The Jedi did some combined Force thing and the effect set fire to some forests on Yavin. Not really stated how much of the forests got burned but they burned nonetheless.

It's already been explained that the Emperor's explosion (and a large number of dark-siders in the EU) was actually all of the dark side energies in him exploding out at the point of death.

Yeah, but it turned out he didn't die on the DS, he just lost his body, one of millions of bodies.

Well, IIRC the thought bomb would enslave spirits and feed off force power.

All he did was telepathically transfer his thought patterns to a clone of his genetic material.
To give the Imps their only good leader since Thrawn (for about 5 minutes and then he built another superweapon) :)

Nice observation. Althought it is highly unlikely that Lucas had that in mind......

Theres a novellisation
Three, in fact.

They're slim novels (novelles?) with pictures, but books none-the-less (they're not comics).
