Steven's Unifying Star Wars Theory
I have mentioned parts of my Theory in a few spots, I figured I would just make a new topic dedicated to it.
Steven's Grand Unifying Star Wars Theory
(This is long, sorry)
The first part to know is that while Anakin is a vergence in the force, he is not the only one and also not the first. Palaptine was the first vergence in the force, he was created by the dark side of the force in a manner similar to Anakin. He differed from Anakin by his powers...
Palpatine had a unique ability to cloud the foresight of the Jedi, but he could see into the future with unprecendented clarity and manipulate events to his advantage. This is a man who could see down an infinite timeline and make favorable adjustments to achieve anything. He would know who his enemies were before they were even born.
Palpatine was more than a match for any Jedi, even if they could percieve him as a threat, Palpatine would already have a plan to eliminate them. The entire Jedi order was simply a nuisance to Palpatine, and he proceeded on a plan to wipe them out.
This created the imbalance in the force in favor of the dark side, so the force responded to it by creating another vergence...Anakin. Anakin while powerful in the force, and like Palpatine clouded the future sight of others...Including Palpatine. Though Palpatine could not see through Anakin's shroud, neither could Anakin see through Palpatine's shroud.
Palpatine realized the danger that Anakin posed to him, the only real threat he had, and so sought to control him rather than face him. Having Anakin as his ally would be much safer than trying to kill him. And so he started Qui-Gon and Kenobi on a their quest to pick up the child and start training him. Palpatine could not know exactly what would happen so he sent Maul to kill Qui-Gon (Maul didn't know this), and then be killed himself. This put the young Padawan in the hands of an inexperienced Jedi who would fail at keeping his learner away from the Dark Side.
Palpatine then took Count Dooku as his new apprentice for the coming Clone Wars. For this phase of his plan he would need someone with diplomatic skills that Maul would never be able to master.
Palpatine also took an active hand in corrupting his prospective pupil, long talks with the boy about his power and destiny went a long way in twisting the boy against the Jedi.
When the Clones wars raged, Anakin lost control of himself and threatened Padme's life. Kenobi stepped in and stopped Anakin, leaving Anakin grievously wounded. The force however, would not simply let Anakin die, he had to bring balance to the force so despite his mortal wounds he survived long enough for Palpatine to find him. An armored suit was crafted for Vader, this suit did not keep him alive, but it did keep him mobile and able to fight.
Soon after Kenobi and Yoda are killed, either by Vader or by someone else. This was Palpatine's wish and he also see that these Jedi masters have fallen. Vader though, is wracked with remorse for his two friends and does what he could not do for his mother, he stops death. The two Jedi are restored as manifestations of the force, having no real body but the appearance and faculties of one. Vader told them that he has restored them, but they must leave and if they ever return he would slay them. And so the Jedi left into hiding, to await another to train.
Time passes, the remaining Jedi are wiped out and the Emperor's plan worked perfectly to his knowledge. The twins grow up and begin to embrace their destiny.
Kenobi eventually returns to the Death Star while helping the twins. When Vader finds him he utters the phrase, "You should not have come back!" and begins the duel. Kenobi is killed and vanishes because since he is a manifestation of the force he has no physical body to leave behind.
Yoda dies because whatever power that Vader gave him so many years ago eventually fades away...as does the little Jedi. This leaves only Luke as the last of the Jedi, but as GL has stated, only Vader could kill the Emperor.
The Emperor's plan for Vader was to have Luke kill him. He could not predict what would happen in that battle since Vader involvement shrouded his vision. But for him it seemed to be a win/win solution, if Luke killed Vader he had a new apprentice that could did not shroud his vision, if Vader killed Luke then he had one less Jedi trying to kill him.
But Vader suprised Palpatine, he had not guessed that Vader still had enough humanity in him to protect his son. And so Palpatine was thrown down the shaft to his death.
When this was done, Vader was now the imbalance and the force that had kept him alive all these years was fading and letting him die. This is why he told Luke that nothing could stop his death then. Soon he did die and faded away, as he at this point was also just a manifestation of the force as his real body had been slowly replaced by force essence over the years.
Anakin was to bring balance to the force by destroying Palpatine, and dying in the process.

Theres the problem that the imbalance is NOT in favor of the dark side! The side of the force with the most power, the most trainees, the most users is the LIGHT side! When Anakin brings balance to the force, hes doing so by aiding the emperor in killing all but two Jedi. When this happens, there are two sith (palpatine and vader) and two jedi (kenobi and yoda) left. Balance is achieved and all is good. Youll also notice that before Luke becomes a force trainee, Kenobi dies. This keeps the force in balance, leaving yoda and luke the only jedi. Then at the end yoda dies and palpatine is defeated shortly thereafter. Granted, so does vader and that would leave the lightside the most powerful part of the force, but luke isnt quite the master of the force that kenobi is, and if the EU is true, there are other sith etc equally weak. I think.

My theory on this has always been that the force is split into two roughly equal "pools", the light side and the dark side.
Each of these "pools" contains a limited amount of force for use.
Due to the massive numbers of Jedi their ability to use the force and power within it is limited.
The Sith however can happily draw upon the force as much as they wish with little worry as to diminished effect etc.
The obliteration of the Jedi order allowed for the light-side force users to at least reach an equal power-level with the dark-side users.

After talking with a number of people, the idea of a very strictly dualist Force -- split into the lightside and the dark side -- seems psychologically dangerous to me. The Jedi seem to place great import on the suppression of emotions, trying to achieve some wierd sort of Zen calmness but instead (at least from what I've been able to see of Kenobi browbeating Anakin) coming closer to an ideal of emotionless machines. The Sith, on the other hand, revel in chaos and selfishness.
Consider it, in a sense, the conflict between the ego and the id, without any 'superego' to mediate between the two.

The Jedi asked, "What is balance for me as a servant of the Light?" The Master replied,"Balance is not what you seek. For you it is accepting that destruction is a part of the universe."

Like Vergere said in Traitor: " The secret of the Jedi is this: there is no darkside." or something like that. She says that there is no light or darkside, and the Force is one. I dunno.

Just a question; where is it revealed that Palpy is a vergence in the Force like Anakin?

I believe he was trying a different take on the NT.Crown wrote:Just a question; where is it revealed that Palpy is a vergence in the Force like Anakin?
Nothing points out that Palpy is a vergence in the Force.

As the previous poster pointed out, I have ZERO direct evidence that Palpatine is a vergence in the force.
That is my hypothesis based on a few observations...
#1. The Jedi Council cannot see Anakin's future as he clouds their vision, the same is true of Palpatine.
#2. Palpatine exploded during his death, Darth Maul did not.
#3. Palpatine is so powerful that he brings the most powerful Jedi into his office for a chat, and even in front of him they cannot sense he is of the dark side.
#4. Anakin had to be created for a reason, it could not be to kill off the Jedi because Palpatine had already sealed their fate. Remember he had already set the Clone Wars in motion 10 years prior to their start, when you consider logistics and planning it could have been set in motion before Anakin was even born.
#5 Lucas has stated that Anakin was created by the force to bring balance to it.
#6 Lucas has stated clearly that the ONLY person that could have defeated Palpatine was Anakin.
#7 Anakin brought balance to the force by killing Palpatine, not by killing the Jedi.
#8 After both Vader and Palpatine had died, the only known Jedi in the galaxy (NO EU HERE) was Luke, and there were no Sith at all (Rule of 2, no EU HERE). This means that achieving Balance in the force had nothing to do with making the number of Jedi and Sith equal, because at that point when he had completed his destiny there were no Sith left. What this leads me to believe is that his intended target all along was Palpatine. And that begs the question, why was Palpatine so important that the force had to create a vergence to kill him?

If Vader had restored Obi Wan and Yoda to bodiless life, then why would he by surprised by the manner of Obi Wan's demise on the DS1?

I imagine that was going through the Anakin part of Vader's mind, if this theory is true. =)

On why Vader was suprised at the way Kenobi died...
There are four possibilities I can think of:
#1 My hypothesis is wrong.
#2 Vader was not suprised by it at all, he was merely kicking through the robes to see if there was a nasty goodbye present in them...such as a Thermal Detonator.
#3 Vader was aware that Kenobi was a manifestation of the force, but was unsure if he had actually slain Kenobi or not. It is possible that Kenobi could have used some sort of Jedi trick to vanish, leaving Vader with the false impression that he had killed his former master. So Vader examined the robes looking for the tell-tale burn mark that would let him know if the killing blow had actually hit.
#4 Vader did not fully understand the 'stopping death' process and was unaware that he had only made Kenobi into a manifestation of the force so many years ago. He fully expected there to be a physical body behind and was suprised when he did not leave one.
