Empire Strikes Back: The Infinites(Spoiler Warning)
Who here has read this short comic series?
Basically, it's about how one small change can cause massive effects.
The change is that, seemingly, Han Solo's Tauntaun was a little less sturdy than before. As a result, he's all but too late in rescuing Luke.
In depseration, Luke uses the last of his strength to ask Han to go to Dagobah in his stead.
Unfortunately, the time the rebels take in mourning the loss of a hero means that the Imperials manage to slip a squadron of TIEs under the shield as well, which massacre the airspeeder pilots, including Wedge Antilles.
The Battle of Hoth goes rapidly downhill from there, but Han and Leia manage to escape. Han goes straight to Cloud City to get help in locating the Dagobah system. There, Boba Fett has beat him there, but in the end, Fett doesn't put up much better a showing, and Lando gets a new desk, if you know what I mean. Vader, apparently not having found Skywalker's grave on Hoth, is not happy about the loss of one of his Hunters, and blows Cloud City out of the sky.
Meanwhile, Han and Leia make it to Dagobah, and Yoda makes the Revelation. Leia agrees to train in her late brother's place, and Han leaves to take care of his business with Jabba before it takes care of him.
That doesn't go well, and by the end, Han and Chewie manage to escape with their lives, but not C-3PO, who quickly falls into the hands of Vader. From Threepio, Vader finds out about Dabobah, and immediately sets out, ignoring rumors spreading about Luke's death.
Meanwhile, Leia is proving to be a rather apt student, and as one of her final tasks, Yoda gives her a Lightsaber hilt, and sends her to get the crystal to complete it.
But while she's off doing that, Vader shows up. Yoda pulls off one of the biggest Jedi Mind Tricks ever, battling Vader inside his mind using images of Obi-Wan, Mace Windu, and Qui-gon Jinn, in an attempt to force Vader to concede to his humanity. It seemingly works, with Vader crumpling into his robes and reverting back to little Annie as Yoda discloses the truth about Luke.
But it's a ruse, as Vader forces Yoda out and strikes, cutting off his arm. Leia arrives, and uses her newly-completed Lightsaber to battle Vader, who tries to turn his daughter to the Dark side.
I don't think I'll disclose the full details of that, but in the end:
The following have died:
Luke Skywalker
Wedge Antilles
Boba Fett
Lando Calrissian(Possibly got away)
C-3PO(Could Possibly be reactivated, but doubtful)
Yoda
Darth Vader
And for the Good News:
Han is not encased in Carbonite
Leia is a full-fledged Jedi(Yoda said she had to do one last thing after getting her saber. Guess what that was?)
Captain Needa was probably not Force-Choked(Hey, it's good for him, at least!)
SO what do you think will happen in this alternate universe for Return of the Jedi?
And in the Expanded Universe?

As for Rotj...the Emperor will have to find a New Sith...and for Lando...dead. Cape flowing right after enormous bomb explosion is shown as a death sentance for most comic books.
Overall...it was better than the first but lacks any real flavor because it's take one event make everything else as bad as possible(TIE's under the shield...WTF...I read it and still shake my head)...and blam an infinite story.
RoTJ I'm hoping will be Luke going to the Dark Side...maybe have it end badly...then again both have but end it with Luke taking over.

I'm leaning towards something like Luke dying at the Sarlac (or perhaps Rancor which would be more interesting) then having Leia again go to Dagobah and train, see previous Inifinities and she emerges a Jedi-knight in waiting. However in the meantime the rebel fleet is massacared and the DS2 begins its final preparations to assault the galaxzy. Leia then inserts onto the DS2 and confronts Vader and the Empeor , repeat scene from RotJ with leai instead of Luke...oh yes and the Emperor's force explosion sets off the reactor and the DS2 dies with Leia and Vader aboard...the later apologizing for his deeds.

Oh, Hell yeah. Anyways, what are your thoughts on me bringing him back and he would survive? Copout or not?CmdrWilkens wrote:I'd love it, Piett is my BOYCaptain Lennox wrote:I must admit that was funny. It would be interesting too see Ackbar die and Piett survive.

I want him to survive and I actually wrote HotR with him surviving (my premise was that he uses the emergency pit Turbolift to go straight to the flag deck and escape in the 30 odd seconds the ship took to crash).Captain Lennox wrote:Oh, Hell yeah. Worse...Vader is doing his whole rule the galaxy and gets hot twice by Han and Chewie...and then repents.Crazy_Vasey wrote:You're shitting me? Leia just beat Vader down there and then? ACK!
Still I almost want a Luke going Evil...seriously...it would be a nice infinite story.

Maybe if Luke agreed to join Vader and kill Palpatine at the end of TESB would set the stage for the RotJ Infinities...

I skimmed the first one... was kinda fun, although it had the whackiest stupid ending I've ever seen...
Yoda crashing the Deathstar into the Emperor's Palace (on Coruscant?).
So I guess that means that the little green muppet just killed a few billion people there, if not more (see SW Technical commentaries site and the "Endor Holocaust" ouch).
Maybe he should have just shot the superlaser and blown up the continent Palpy was on instead?
Maybe he couldn't fly the thing? Did he mind control the entire station? Who knows!
Heck of a way to take out one guy though... dang.

What if Luke were to miss the torp shot on the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin? Yavin 4 gets incinerated, along with Leia and 3P0, and just about the entire rebellion command. Han and Luke get to try and carry on the fight.

Infinities is essentuially a speculative set of "what if" scenarios in comic book form. It takes pivtoal events and alters them then creats a story for what happens next in the alternate SW universe. They aren't part of the continuity but they are interesting.

Okay so far we've had genocidal Yoda and Vader getting his ass kicked by Han and Chewie. Anyone else agree that infinities sucks?Ghost Rider wrote:Worse...Vader is doing his whole rule the galaxy and gets hot twice by Han and Chewie...and then repents.Crazy_Vasey wrote:You're shitting me?
