A question asbout Younglings, Padawan Learners,and Sith

Why are the early ranks like this, I understand Newbie, but what about Youngling, Sith Apprentice, and Padawan Learners?

I just want to know why I was made a Padawan.

what is, the post count for a Sith Apprentice, Padawan appears to be 150, Youngling is 50. What is Jedi Knight? What is Sith Lord?
