How many Mon Cal cruisers of the MC80 line would be required to BDZ a world in the same time frame as 3 ISDs?

That's pretty hard to judge. A group of carracks and Dreadnaughts were going to do one in 15 minutes, and MC 80s have quite a bit more firepower. On the other hand, the fact that there were a bunch of those smaller ships means they could do it faster because the single ship didn't have to transverse as far.
I'd say 4, 5 to be safe.

Definitely not in firepower...
You could argue that the MC-80 is a superior vessel, but it is never in sheer throw weight. You always argue about the redundant shield generators and maybe the extra 1D of maneuverability in the RPG - defensive measures.

That would be great. You could start with Ackbar and Fey'lya throwing threats at one another.IG-88E wrote:I've been considering an SW AU fanfic where Mon Cals and Bothans have it out. Weren't Star Destroyers, especially the VSD and VSD IIs designed to bombard planets from orbit? As well as battle with other warships?

I thought...
The MC90 was only 1255m long (WEG, but that's about all of where the MC90 shows up.)
