According to WEG, there's 768 tractor beams.

ANH may be rationalized in that the hangar was covered by only one tractor beam, or that Ben disabled the power for a large number of them.

OR, Luke, Han and co got away from the other 767 tractor beams since Tarkin and Vader wanted them to escape to the rebel base.

In any case, they have a range of 25 space units and a power of 5D.

This matches 1/4 the range of the superlaser (6 planetary diameters, or 100 space units), and the power of a medium-sized turbolaser.

Or simplified, it would make 11,765,000 km with a power of 100 Gigatons per second. (Assuming 1 medium TL shot / 2 seconds on average).

Hope I got it right on the first try..

Oh, and of course I have no number for what the distance was when Han first noticed they were caught in a tractor beam in the movie, but it was much closer than 11 mil.km, that's for sure.

Of course, the tractor beams are capital-scale, the Millennium Falcon is a relatively very small target.

Keep in mind that they could have been in the tractor beam since they were first detected. Han didn't realize they were in the tractor beam until he tried to change course.

Aye that, Darth Wong.

Phew, no force-choke this time..

On the other hand, that's an interesting note. The MF never picked up the tractor beam lock. We know it has upgraded sensor systems, as well as pretty much every other system, but then again, it can hardly be compared to a capital ship.

Option 1) Tractor beam locks can't be noticed until you try to manoeuvre.

Option 2) A mere smuggler's ship doesn't have the sensors it takes to detect tractor beams.

I'll keep an eye out for quotes to determine which is correct. HDS database comes to mind..
