Imperial related question

Post by Jason von Evil »

Ok, did the Empire have any sort of rule about medical ships? What I mean is, did they forbid their ships from attacking and destroying them?

Nope in RotJ the Imperial fighters were according to Wedge Antillies "They're heading for the medical frigate!"

That doesn't really count, since the ship in question was a Nebulon-B frigate and the fighters likely considered it a danger.

Precisely. IRL, you're not supposed to attack medical ships, but if you're in the middle of a battle, and the medical ship happens to be a frigate with AA guns firing at you, I don't think anybody's going to fault you for shooting back.
IIRC, there have been references in a game or two (one of the X-wing games, I think) about Imperials attacking medical ships, and it was considered shocking and dastardly, which would imply that normally, the Empire (or other SW civ) wouldn't attack medical ships.

I think theres a difference between a true Medical Ship and a Medical Frigate which is still fully armed with Turbolasers and/or Laser cannons AND taking on enemy pilots/soldiers during a battle.

Does anyone here seriously believe that people don't shoot at medical personnel?Sure, hospitals and field aid tents won't normally be aimed at,but hospital ambulances,medics...................

Depends on the situation. Really the idea is that you're not supposed to intentionally kill the wounded/medical personnel.

IIRC Medical Frigates normally don't go into battle. Endor was a one-off because the fleet needed every ship available. I remember this being mentioned in Solo Command or Iron Fist, one of them anyway.

I doubt the Empire gives a crap about keeping away from medical ships.

depends on how brutal the war gets. sometimes, you snipe for medics in particular. others, you give em some coffee and send em on their way.

Well if the medical frigate has weapons....wouldn't they immediatly be flagged as a warship instead?

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."
