Quick question

Post by Night_stalker »

I am writing a SW fic set about 6 weeks after the battle of Bakura. I was wondering what size a Imperial garrison on Mandalore would have in terms of ground troops and space vessels, and what the New Republic would consider a decent force to send to liberate the planet. Suggestions are appreciated.

Not sure about the NR forces though, depends on how important Mandalore is to them.

OK, and for space forces?

This Wookipedia article on the Imperial Navy offers some information:

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_fleet

To quote from the article linked to above:
A squadron was the smallest independent operating unit in the Imperial Navy. Composed by several lines, a squadron was commanded by an admiral and ranged from 14 to 60 ships, depending upon the composition of the lines in the squadron. A squadron was the largest concentration of ships normally assigned to a single system.
So that gives you a plausible upper limit, anyway. Of course, given the source it may be inaccurate.

Regarding the New Republic forces that would be allocated, it seems unlikely that they would send any substantial forces given the current state of galactic affairs. The New Republic did not seem to have enough resources to defeat the Imperial garrison while still protecting their primary interests.

Also regarding Imperial forces, The Imperial Civil War had begun in earnest at this time. It would be unknown what how this would affect the Imperial response.
