Beginning of Prequel Republic Corruption

Post by Illuminatus Primus »

This is a major step in the fall of the Republic, and coincides with the comment in the Rebellion Era Sourcebook that it's at that time that the corruption really set in in the Senate.

Interesting.

I'm curious about the TradeFed though...this indicates that the Republic granted them the right to represent systems...would those just be any systems that they were able to buy, or would it be only the sector they are incorporated in? Is the territory they represent contiguous? If they end up "buying" the representation of many non-contiguous systems, would they need multiple representatives?
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

Didn't the Trade Federation initially start out as something of a regulatory body?

Systems would voluntarily align themselves with the Trade Federation rather than seeking direct representation in the Senate (ref. CUSWE), I guess, because of whatever other special priviledges the TradeFed was given by the OR.
