Force Teleportation

Post by Enola Straight »

Has any Jedi or Sith utilized the Force to teleport himself/herself?

Something akin to NightCrawler from the X-Men or the Dragons of Pern?

Hmm, I don't think so, the only place I could imagine Force teleportation taking place would be within one of the RPGs.

Well, Yoda watched Luke for "a long time" from Dagobah...

I think that was more along the lines of astral projection, or "farsight" as MotS called it. Like when Luke saw Han & Leia on Bespin from Dagobah.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

The closest we have seen is in DE when the Emperor used the Force Storm to transport Luke into a Prison ship.

Hey, how about Luke projecting himself into the Falcon when he was actually still on Byss in DE?

The Ang-tii monks have shown the ability to teleport inanimate objects from one place to another (well, not the monks, but someone trained in Force use by them). The Ang-tii also have ships capable of travelling instantaneously from one part of the galaxy to another, with no known range limit, which could just be a REALLY advanced FTL drive or could be a Force ability. No way to be sure unless the EU expands on them further, which seems unlikely at this time.

Didn't exactly use the force for this one, but...

In TPM, Qui-gon sends Obi-wan a sample of Anakin's blood. Qui-gon is at Mos Espa and Obi is still at Amidala's ship. How did the sample get from point A to point B?

Eh, I'd chance to guess that it only reads the whats in the blood, and sends its findings over to a more powerful computer, on a starship, to analyze.

EDIT: Maybe through scanning it and turning it into a holo-image,thensending it back to the mothership.

For what it's worth DGG, Bob Brown came to the same conclusion in his Midichlorians essay on his webpage.

I think the instances we have seen have to do with either "out of body" type spiritual projection, or the movement of "force ghosts" (like Obi-Wan, Yoda after death).

One would think transporation as Trek uses it would be impossible for Jedi, considering that he'd disintegrate himself, and then be rendered "dead" and unable to reconstitute himself (except in spirit form.. maybe to "posses a new body" like in Dark Empire? its getting more and more out there.. heh).

Maybe a Jedi could use the Force to open a temporary small stable wormhole to fold space through... that'd be pretty cool, then close it again as he left. ; )

He'd have to be pretty darn powerful though (we're talking Valley of the Jedi powerful).

Force storms.

ITs not really "teleportation" but they apparently can transport people from one place to another (the Emperor was able to transport Luke from Coruscant to Byss) - other Jedi (or groups of them) Are supposed to be able to create them as well.

There are other examples of "multi-dimensional" abilities with the Force (Children of the Jedi, IIRC).

Actually the Coruscant Force Storm just sucked him up into an Imperial Dungeon Ship.

True. But 1.) its still transportation and 2.) it still had to have been generated from a long frickign ways off.

Coruscant is a Core world, I think, which isn't quite the center, but it's closer to the center than the edge. Byss, where the storm was generated, is in the Deep Core, at the center of the galaxy. We're talking distances like the diameter of the UFP or even the Alpha Quadrant.

Wonder what the storm is composed of... is it "supernatural" ?

Because wouldn't a storm need air/wind currents to travel, and lacking those in space.... etc.

I guess its like force lightning (on a much grander scale) the "energy field" of the Force providing the material to use.
