Re: LEGO UCS Executor!
I hate to say it but it doesn't look big enough. If I were LEGO, instead of making it an arbitrary size and making a scale mini ISD, I would have scaled up the SSD from the existing (and rather good) mini ISD model.

As awesome as that'd be I really can't say I think a 30+ foot long Lego model kit is a good idea!Eternal_Freedom wrote:I hate to say it but it doesn't look big enough. EDIT: Or a 12+ foot long one for that other ISD model I forgot about.

Re: LEGO UCS Executor!
When I said Mini Star Destroyer I meant this.
That would make the full SSD something like 1, maybe 2 feet long. So about the size of other UCS models.

I did not know that existed. Makes much more sense now.Eternal_Freedom wrote:When I said Mini Star Destroyer I meant this.

Re: LEGO UCS Executor!
i'd imagine if you could make it big enough, the lego ISD would look more like greeblies and less like blocks of plastic.

Uh, count the studs on that new SSD set. Its going to be 4-6 feet long (the back is a little blurry ) Those large tile areas along the side edges, 3 of those is about 1 foot long. So just the front wedge edges are almost 4 feet long. I am going to guess this will be in the $300 range like the original UCS ISD.Eternal_Freedom wrote:When I said Mini Star Destroyer I meant this.

Has anyone built this yet? I just got my set yesterday but won't be starting on this until next summer-ish.

The original link at the top of the thread indicates that the model is fifty inches long.Lord Insanity wrote:Uh, count the studs on that new SSD set. Re: LEGO UCS Executor!
I just made my second bi-annual LEGO purchasing spree, haven't picked up this yet but I intend to by end of this year / early next year.
So far, the only LEGO I haven't picked up this year is the Bounty Hunter gunship. I don't know why. I'll probably get it eventually. Oh, and the TCW Republic cruiser. This is because I already have the original TPM Republic cruiser, and the new one is identical except for being a different colour, having guns, and different minifigures.
Can't wait to build the new Millennium Falcon.
EDIT: oh, I didn't get the Naboo starfighter either. I've already got the 2007 release, this one is virtually identical. No point.

Well it does now. Originally it was just a blurry picture with very few details about the set known. My comment above was 5 months ago.Uraniun235 wrote:The original link at the top of the thread indicates that the model is fifty inches long.Lord Insanity wrote: Uh, count the studs on that new SSD set. I saw this on display at the local Lego retail store. It does look awesome in real life, sadly it is a bit out of my price range. If I was going to drop $400 on Lego it would be on the adult geared Space shuttle, Department Store, and Pet Shop/Town House sets. Of course there is always the Death Star too.

Re: LEGO UCS Executor!
The biggest obstacle for me isn't the price, it's the sheer size of the model. I don't know where I would put it after I finished building it.

Re: LEGO UCS Executor!
With Lego, I don't think space is that big a prob since the thing can be disassembled if neccessary. Space would be a concern if this was a model kit. While my apartment is large enough that I can display the Lego Executor, I would have second thoughts if it was model kit instead of Lego.Uraniun235 wrote:The biggest obstacle for me isn't the price, it's the sheer size of the model. Re: LEGO UCS Executor!
Yeah, but you don't want to display it partially disassembled. And besides, you don't want to go to the trouble of looking through the manual to see how to reassemble it, unless it fell apart by accident (pretty rare, but it can happen if there's an accident- best thing about LEGO is that its nigh invulnerable to permanently breaking).
I certainly have no space for it. Don't know how I'm going to deal with it, when I get it.

Re: LEGO UCS Executor!
See I would be more likely to take it apart on purpose just to use the parts for my own creations. In fact that is exactly what I did with the regular Star Destroyer set that came out in 2002. I got it when it first came out and after collecting dust for a few months I "needed" the parts for other things.

That's what I did with the TIE Fighter Collection; those large flat and wing-shaped panels came in very handy for building the flight pods on my Battlestar model.Lord Insanity wrote:See I would be more likely to take it apart on purpose just to use the parts for my own creations. And the bricks they use to mate the solar panels to the rest of the ship came in very handy for a starfighter I built.
