Isalamiry
How exactly does Isalamiry ability to repel the Force works? it is suposed that every living beigns a part of it, but in HTTE Thrawn says that htey repel the force, how is this posibble? it is not only that they don't have enough midiclorians tho be felt, but they were actually able to repel it. My guess is that they had a natural ability with the force (just like Karrde's dog like pets where able to feel it, the isalamiry where able to manipulate it) to stop others from using it, and it was so strong that not even Joruus was able to beat them. I think they create some sort of interfierence in the force and so no one is able to use it when their around, they must be a part of it because they are organic life forms.

The Yaslamari or what ever ya call them developed it's nulling ability of the force to counter the threat of Wild Vornskers, if i spelt that right. Karde took two of the afore mentioned Vornskers and made them pets by removiong their tails which made them more docile. In the wild they have tails and are vicious wee fuckers who use the force to hunt. The Yasalamiri have this ability because they need camoflage. Simple evolution.

yes, I understand that it is all about evolution. My question is: do they actually repel the force or they just stop others from using it? in my opinion pushing away the force would be like pushing away the oxygen, it is escential for life to exist. They wouldn't survive without it. Maeby they just learned to hide their presence by creating an interfeerence in it. So my question is not why they can do it but HOW they do it. Thrawn says that they repel it, but he's no jedi so he doesn't necessarly knows how it works, so he only tries to explain it in a simple way.
oh! and by the way, sorry for spelling the name wrong.

Re: Isalamiry
I always assumed it worked on the "if it can be Force-generated, it can be Force-repelled" concept in the RotJ novelization. Basically, that they instinctively use the Force to counter any Force usage within a certain range. A strong enough attack could cut through their defenses the same way the Emperor cut through Luke's defenses in RotJ (in the novelization, Luke tried to defend against the attack the way Yoda defended against Dooku in AotC, but the Emperor's attack was too strong).ANGELUS wrote:How exactly does Isalamiry ability to repel the Force works? it is suposed that every living beigns a part of it, but in HTTE Thrawn says that htey repel the force, how is this posibble? it is not only that they don't have enough midiclorians tho be felt, but they were actually able to repel it. Of course, I have no evidence of that. As far as I know, nothing has overcome the Ysalamiri's defense. I'm not sure if there has been a concentrated effort, either. The only thing the idea has going for it is that it is consistent with everything else we've seen about the Force.
I don't think the exact method is ever elaborated any more than "they push back the Force to create an area where the Force does not exist." Which is exactly what it would seem like if Force-usage is repelled properly.
