The JK1 addon actually had letal MP characters with no force powers. Sniper-blasters can seriously make a Jedi's day unpleasant.

Firstly, it is not Kyle's academy. I very sure it is Luke's Jedi academy. Kyle is one of the Jedi Masters in the academy. You play as Kyle's apprentice, I think, if the Master-Apprentice system was restored.

As for the curved tip of the sabre, that is just a graphical glitch.

Ok, it is LUKE's academy, Kyle is a student. He isn't even a master. I think that Kyle Kartan has been exausted. They need a new plot lin.e, so you will probably be an unnamed Jedi. The thing said it was an RPG, right? Maybe you get to set up your own character with a background, etc.

LucasArts has not had a (good) game like that since Tie Fighter, or X-Wing (not X-Wing Vs. Tie Fighter, mind you). I loved the story of Tie Fighter, and the coolness (OMG I'm in the Death Star trench!) of X-Wing. Too bad I lost the damn disks... (ok, they were CDs, not THAT old  )

EDIT: hrm, $15 each at LucasArts store... maybe I'll buy, my computer is old enough to handle them...
Just use the WinXP roll back feature. Worked for me.

Pounder, I think you misunderstood me. I said my computer CAN handle them in it's current state (*COUGH*Win 98*COUGH*). I also have XP (dual boot, Dell motherboard/bios is confused as hell), and yes, compatability feature would probably work, but I don't need to. Thanks for the tip anyway tho.

Bah, why did all the whiners come out of the woodwork for JK2, complaining about "rancor jedi" (which aren't in the game) and all that?

The first time I even heard those whines was when I read that PA comic.

First off, Jedi Knight came out Oct. 97 and had protocol droid Jedi, but nobody complained then.

As anyone who's followed the EU for any length of time, or has seen AOTC, just about any species can be a Jedi. What's so crazy about a Stormtrooper with a lightsaber?

Not only did they exist in the early scripts out of George's own head, but we have the Imperial guard, who use the darkside and lightsabers (see Infinities.... otherwise they use 'lightsabre-like' weapons) and they are supposedly culled from the ranks of Stormtroopers!

Besides, what would stop a Jedi from putting on some trooper armor for a little added protection?

Frankly, I'm glad the guys at LucasArts and Raven don't feel tied down by fanboy purists when making these games.

JK2 was a great game. I missed the cheesy FMV cutscenes from JK1, and I was annoyed by some of the puzzles. Single player felt a little boring until you got the lightsaber and force, but multiplayer was incredibly fun when you played with people who weren't idiots (hey, every FPS game has them.... just look at counterstrike).

LEC also has anofficial page up at their site. If you want to know what Kyle Katarn has been doing since JK, read the new Essential Guide to Characters (just remember he DID kill Sariss!). He's a combat instructor for the Academy and had students of his own.

Every game has them (idiots, that is). Hell, every group/club/area in the world has them.

I haven't read the new Essential Guide to Characters, happened to not have the money last time I had a chance to buy it (damn hole in pocket :x). If the Essential Guide says Katarn is doing something, and nothing else contridicts it, then that's what he's doing. What I remember from the Extended Universe (specifically Visions of the Future by Timoth Zahn) is that Luke Skywalker planned to train beginners at the acadamy, then the advanced students take them on and travel with them in "real" fictional world situations, like Padawan. Maybe Kyle is one of the people staying at the acadamy training beginners in lightsabre fencing or something.

I think Kyle will now be like those jedi trainers you see in Jk2. He is no longer a student. he is either a Knight or a Master now. Oh, DON'T give him a purple lightsabre like the other jedi trainers.
As anyone who's followed the EU for any length of time, or has seen AOTC, just about any species can be a Jedi. What's so crazy about a Stormtrooper with a lightsaber?

As for stormtroopers being a jedi, sure, it existed before in GL's mind, but not now. The very fact that stormtroopers with lightsabres are removed and no longer exist means it is not possible.
The imperial with the lightsabre is the same. Removed = does not exist.

But since it is MP, who cares? People can model non-Star Wars characters and still have them in the Star Wars Universe, so, what's so important?

You can start whining only when the SP game has lightsabre wielding stormtroopers. Oh, I was able to make sabre-wielding stormtroopers appear in JK2.

Well the jedi thing is over done, now it's time to take on the role as a bad guy!

Then we need LucasArts to use the Homeworld 2 engine and make a 3d space combat sim.

Ahh, gloirous star destroyers....
...and use the engine of Hegemonia and make an ass-kicking strategy...

Err not to sound like a bastard, but read the link... Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.

Oh, and where is your sig from? It sounds like a Buffy quote, but I don't remember the ep. Could you at least narrow down the season for me?

1) you didn't sound like a bastard, 2) I read the link, 3) my comment still applies, no matter what they call it :) it's a sequel with a subtitle of a sequel with a subtitle of a sequel with a subtitle... you get the drift. It goes like this:

- Dark Forces
- Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight
- Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast

would actually be Dark Forces III: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. So the logical progression would be...

It's not, it's actually from Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. A parody of an old kungfu movie, actually it uses most of the original footage with actors digitally added in.

Obviously, since you are the world authority in what's funny and what's not. Ok, I changed my mind about you sounding like an asshole.

It's true, the Shadowtroopers aren't "stormtroopers" per se, they're just better-trained Reborn wearing the shadow-armor.

However, can you tell me why you think Stormtroopers can't be Jedi (or alternatey, why Jedi/Sith can't wear stormtrooper armor)?

Just because it wasn't in the movies? Or is there another reason?

PS: Don't forget "Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith"

Due to that, many of us at JK2.net speculate(d) that JA is an expansion for JK2.

So: Dark Forces IV: Jedi Knight III: Mysteries of the Sith II: Jedi Academy
