Here's a thought on the Executor meets Death Star topic..
Quadanium armour is the same stuff the TIE panels are built of.
Presumably it's light weight, relativly strong for it's density, and with very good thermal properties. So a kinetic impact may be far more devastating than an energy beam,
Reasons:
1, TIE's are lightweight.
2. Those panels has to have good thermal properties if they are dissipators, as per Saxton's theory. If they are to belived to be solar panels, may may still benefit from high thermal conducticvity.
3. Light materials may have high tensile strenght, but they invariably have low density.
why would you build a death star in the first place?

If he cloned the entire crew of all ISDs, including their officers, there would be no questioning or disobeying Palpatine's orders. They'd all just be drones following the Emperor's will, but knowing tactics and strategy. So even if higher-ranking admirals and such disobeyed Palpatine, their soldiers would have unquestioning loyalty to him and would not listen to the admiral, report him to the Emperor, kill him, etc.Yes there ARE middle men, even in the command structure of Palpy's totalitarian Empire.
20 million ISDs would mean vast amounts of high ranking officers in charge of portions of it, and if even a section of those ISDs were compromised, it'd be trouble.
It doesn't matter if no one can question Palpatine (in theory, in practise some have, Palpatine is powerful, but he can't be EVERYWHERE), there'd still be too many more people doing too many more things than there should be with just one Death Star.

That's really needlessly complicated.IRG CommandoJoe wrote:If he cloned the entire crew of all ISDs, including their officers, there would be no questioning or disobeying Palpatine's orders. All members of the Imperial Redshirt Troopers are expected to die horribly for their Empire!
Go, and get killed in the most pointless way imaginable!

Crew requirements for 20mil ISDs are about 1 Trillion (@ 50k each including Stormtroopers) Compnor has 2 trillion Imperial Youths currently and is aiming to grow to 10 trillion. By the time all 20 million ISDs are constructed, Compnor will have 'graduated' enough Imperial Youths to fill crew reqs( if you can convince 1 in 10 to Go Navy). Training all these crewers will be a total bitch, but you could shuffle them into other ships of the fleet and pull experienced crew into the new ISD fleet. Clones need not apply

Jesus, talk about necromancy. But I guess it does go along with the sorts of discussions that have been taking place recently.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'
