More New Jedi Order Books are needed.

Post by Dark Primus »

Is there a complete list of the NJO series and the authors somewhere?
Tomorrow I’m going to a sci-fi bookstore where I can get more books but I need the names of the books that comes after Edge of Victory II: Rebirth, the one I’m currently reading.

And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

Seems I missed Ylesia.

Great, seems like they're going to magically defeat the Vong with that stupid living planet. God I wish it had wondered onto a Death Star firing range.

"Recovery" and "Ylesia" were both E-books. I got them of Amazon. They're okay, but the e-books nowadays are much too short, and don't have the kind of features yet that everyone's always promising they're going to have in the future, but aren't very realistic.

Will missing Ylesia (which I had no idea was a freaking e-book and have been looking at book stores for) impact the overall story arc? Aka does it matter if I skip it?

Destiny's Way is a real book correct? I have yet to see this one in paperback. Assuming its still hard cover only?

Don't worry about reading Ylesia. You won't miss much.

Also, make sure you skip the atrocious Dark Journey. It sucks and you won't miss out on much of the story arc by skipping it.

Ylesia has almost no impact on the overall plot, whatsoever. It just magnifies the scale by a TINY factor, by showing that there's other action going on, and by showing the continued struggle against the YV.

Destiny's Way is a "real" book, in that it is not an E-book. Don't expect SbS, but it's par for the NJO course.

WTF was that book, anyway? Jaina was the most interesting character of the NJO, with Anakin's death, and they spent a whole book.... NOT developing her. She didn't change at all. Nothing really happened to her. She doesn't appear to be any different from how she was, before, and even though you'd think that the death of one of her brothers, the apparent captivity of the other, and the isolation from her friends and parents would have changed her. On top of that, she was TURNING TO THE DARK SIDE. And then a few hundred pages later it's all in the past. It felt like I was watching ST:Voyager, for a second, and like the writers had just hit the "reset" button, again. Suddenly she isn't turning to the Dark Side (as if it's something you can just walk away from like nothing ever happened), she doesn't really mourn for Anakin, and she acts and thinks the same way that she did before the story arc began. Don't believe me? Look at her thought processes in the early books, and compare them with how she thinks today. No development. No change. No reason to exist.

Ylesia is one of the best stories. It's short yes, it's an ebook, quite right, but your not gonna get a better bang for your buck.

Is it? Now I'll have to read Star by Star again.

Ylesia will be in the Destiny's Way paperback.

A Forest Apart (I beleive it's the title) wil be in the Tatooine Ghost paperback.

e-books kinda suck. They read like short stories that don't really have an ending.

For the record, I happen to have liked Dark Journey.
