An Imperial Fleet Support

Post by Failed Glory »

A few questions regarding the logistics of maintaining a fleet of 25,000 ISDs:

What kind of support (food, parts, new personnel, fighters) does an ISD require on a normal mission? Fuel probably isn't required.

Do the ships grow food and recycle all waste? ISDs wouldn't seem so evil then.

How long could an ISD survive in regular combat situations without new personnel or material?

Daala's fleet appeared to need nothing for over a decade without resupply, although her fleet wasn't fighting and probably had extra supplies to begin with.

I guess it boils down to a ship capable of sustaining multiple year missions without resupply or an even larger fleet of resupply ships and planetary depots servicing the Empires' fleet or a solution somewhere in between.

Well they dumped garbage in TESB, and Han said it is routine to dump garbage before hyperspace jumps. So they have wastes of some sorts.

Err, I mean wastes that they can't recycle or simply don't recycle.

I gess one of the design goals of an ISD is to sustain years without resupply. WEG stats place the consumables at "6 years". There was probably recycling on an ISD, and the wastes dumped were probably too big, or couldn't be recycled.
