How would YOU take over the Empire?
Just as the subject says, what steps would you take, personally, to seize control of the Empire? Please post your plans here, even if they're incredibly stupid . Anything goes: technobabble, religious propaganda, mind control, telemarketing, organizing an interstellar Mafia, creating a force-impervious 100% polyester suit, etc.

Pellaeon is a weiner and a coward in battle prefering to preserve his forces rather than engage the enemy. This defeatist attitude reserves him as a leader of an ultimate Rebel victory. Isn't he also the guy who tried to join the New Republic after 15 years of fighting? He is hardly the man to accomplish this task.
I would have a bunch of cardboard ISDs made to fool the obviously defunct sensors (kidding, of course, but it fooled me in ESB) of the rest of the Empire and force them to yield to me and my associate, Gonzo, High Admiral of the Cardboard Fleet! I'd have a little accident take out Darth and our friend the Emperor and then put them on display like Lenin. Onwards to the 5-year plan!

Effectorize the Emperor into jumping down the bottomless pit brainbug, then take his place.
(Nevermind that if I have Culture weapons, I don't need to take over the Empire... )

It's not my place in life to make people happy. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to watch me slaughter cows you hold sacred. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to have your basic assumptions challenged. If you want bunnies in light, talk to someone else.

Well ya know why he did so?Failed Glory wrote:Pellaeon is a weiner and a coward in battle prefering to preserve his forces rather than engage the enemy. Limited resources. As a warlord of the Imperial remnant you simply can't afford to piss your men and equipment away during hopeless engagements.
He did his job of holding together the Imperial remnant pretty good btw (as good as possible).

Past engagements between the Imperials and the New Republic had reduced the Imperial war machine into rubble, and at the time of The Hand of Thrawn duology, Imperial Remnant was considered a minor power. It was a clear no win situation, and Pellaeon did the best thing he could by making peace with the New Republic. Had he gone on yet another ill-fated crusade, Empire would probably be no more.
I have not read NJO books, but I believe that so far Imperials have stayed out of the conflict. What does this mean for them? They've had several years of peace to prepare themselves, and after the war is over, they could easily form a new Empire out from the ashes of the New Republic. All thanks to Pellaeon.
BTW, if Empire has joined the war, please correct me. Also is Pellaeon still in charge?

You might want SW Hyperdrive which is faster than culture FTL (without 'significant engine degradation')Enlightenment wrote:Effectorize the Emperor into jumping down the bottomless pit brainbug, then take his place.

Gonzo and my Cardboard ISD Fleet would only scare one Imperial Admiral and that man would be Palleon.
Limited resources or not, it's been mentioned several times on this page alone that the strength of the New Republic's fleets were little better than a few corvettes, a frigate, and maybe a dated cruiser. How exactly was Palleon out mastered on the battlefield? I'll admit he had a few rival warlords feuding amongst themselves, but he still had shipyards, training planets, and resources in Thrawn's glory days. The end result is the same: he is a weiner who never engaged the enemy at their weakest. How he was ever promoted to such a command should be a discussion in itself.
That said, I respect a man who realizes hiw time is over and cedes to his better, which, in this case, is the Republic. He was just a man caught out of place and with no time left, not the leader of the new, glorious Empire.
