What does that have to do with anything?

In any case, the groups in Endor were Gold group (Lando), Grey group (the Y-Wing pilot who crashes into the ISD, doing no damage), Green group (the A-Wing pilot, IIRC he dies), and Red group (Wedge).

Dude earlier in the thread said that Star Wars never refers to starfighters as ships.

I feel your pain man. In the DS II run on a AMD 400 was a bitch. Flying the damn run on Rogue Squadron II can be ass hard as well. Hell, if XWA even remotely showed speeds observed in the movies that would have been the best level EVER!!!

In RSII, that final part with all the white things was too short. In the movie, hte ships were goinmg through it for several minutes. They needed to make it less frustrating and more like the movie. That's what would have made ti the best level ever.

First off, this is post 200!!! I would like to thank all the assholes, trekkies and genuine Star Wars fans who helped make this happen. A special thanks to Mr. Poe for having a wonderful site with a link to Stardestroyer.net that I found a few years ago. Of course, last but not least, Mike Wong, pissing in cereal bowls across the globe.

Now, back to our regurlarly and overly long posting.

Damn straight. All of those hard ass turns. Having to shoot down damn TIES. The run itself is hard as hell to begin with.

And not to mention, The MF can get blown up when you least expect it. And, when going into the DS core in RotJ, it took a really long time, and by thte time they go to it, Luke went all the way from the tower on the north pole to the equitorial trench. Going out, it took a far shorter time.

I would take this into account that they knew the route better the second time around (going backwards I know, but hey) they may have also took a detour. In fact, let's look at these points. First Lando tells some of the other fighters to break off and head for the surface. Of course they do. Same in the novel. Now, they had been rushing into the core. In the novel those same fighters that headed to the surface were actually able to respond to Ackbar's orders to 'concentrate fire' on the SSD. This could be just a possibility as to how they got out so fast. The only breakdown I know of is the hologram from Home One's conference. They showed only four main shafts. They had no branch offs and lacked any other routes. This however was proven wrong when the fighters broke off.

Well the hologram in Home One was a simplified schematic. It didn't have to show all the shafts, just the main ones. Besides, it didn't show the hangars, either.

Yes bit the fighters didn't fly in using any map just their own sensors. and they could have programmed their nav computers to memorize the route so that the pilot would only have to make small adjustments as they flew out. this would allow them to fly out as fast as possible.

That's possible, but wasn't the ECM so bad that they were practically flying blind?

Yes. In the novel they were. Lando said they had to use visual scanners. Wedge exlaimed that they could run into surprises. The only thing they could do, according to the movies, was lock onto the largest power source.

Empire Strikes Back novelisation, Star Wars Trilogy paperback
p188

...Yet the the Millennium Falcon was famous not for its outward appearance but for its speed: This freighter was still the fastest ship ever to make the Kessel Run or to outrun an Imperial TIE Fighter.

Someone had a couple of charts posted, but I think this about sums up my question. TIE Fighters are supposedly ranked at the same speed (or top acceleration of 100mglt) as the X-Wing. This would boost the Falcon up above thier speed. The only thing left now is to find out if it's faster than a TIE Interceptor, and then an A-Wing.
