What advantages do the AT-ST give the Empire?

Nah, the difference is that a walker with repulsorlifts uses it's legs as it's primary mode of transportation and the repulsors for support, while it's vice versa with a repulsorcraft with legs.

i havnt read the complete topic but about the armor of the AT-ST in ROTJ

- it get completely smashed between 2 tree logs

- the one that looses his balance and falls to the ground is totally wasted also

- it could surive a few hit from another AT-ST tough

So can we conclude it offers only minimal protection against physical weapons?

or maybe just bad scripting on that matter
