Info on Darth Reven & Malek besides KOTOR?
Are there any comics which focus on the war between the Republic and Sith which was occuring during KOTOR, specifically anything about Reven or Malek

Nope.
Basically they were created solely for Knights of the Old Republic.
Would be nice though to see a comic involving them...given the scope of the war with the Mandalorians.

I think KotoR is some of the best EU in a long time...pretty sad when you think about it.

I don't find it 'sad'. Refreshing, more like. It was a great plot. A comic about Revan and Malak would be complicated by trying to decide who Revan is: man or woman?Illuminatus Primus wrote:I think KotoR is some of the best EU in a long time...pretty sad when you think about it.
There was a very small problem I had with KOTOR though. Once you arrive on Dantooine, you have that vision where Revan and Malak are about to find the first starmap. Malak is dressed differently, and still has his lower jaw. Revan, however, is dressed in his customary uber-cool black robes with hood and mask. Malak speaks of how they'll be expelled from the Jedi if they keep going. Wouldn't the Jedi Council find it a bit suss that one of their Jedi Knights walks around dressed like that? Hello ... bad mofo in dark side robes whoose description in the inventory screen when you get them says "abomination, destroyed by the Jedi Council"?
Perhaps it was a falsehood introduced into your mind by the Jedi Council, to keep you from realising that you were Revan.
Damn I would've liked to kill those fuckers myself, rather than letting Malak/the Sith fleet do it (for all we know, only Master Vandar survived the destruction of the Dantooine academy).

Really, it was meant to be. How could anyone tolerate being a walking falsehood created by a bunch of manipulators in the Jedi Council, your entire being a fanciful construction designed for loyalty to a mere political entity and some bunch of old farts conceited interpretations of what the force 'should' be?
Needless to say, Korriban was incredibly enjoyable. Having the head of the Sith Academy acknowledge me as Revan was especially gratifying (for those who haven't done it, simply rat that traitorous Twi'lek bitch out the moment she tries to get you to kill him- don't wait till the moment of truth, or he'll attack you).
Besides, I was a *principled* dark sider. I thought nothing of using destructive force powers or mind tricks to suit my own ends, but I did end slavery on Kashyyk and I tried to stay above the more ... petty ... displays of evil (like taking the second Krayt dragon pearl on Tatooine ... besides, Canderous didn't approve and I always listen to Canderous ....)
Fuck I love that game.

Well, ultimately you have to decide that you'd rather be good in your current identity than become evil again.Vympel wrote:NaturallyStofsk wrote:Vympel: Let me guess, you liked playing darkside more than lightside, right?

It's kind of like with Angel. He was evil and had his soul and the subsequent morality forced upon him, same as Revan. Yet even so, because of their new ways of thinking they both view it as the best thing for them, even if the method for which they got there wasn't the best. And retaliation because of that would go against what they wanted to be now.
Unless you're heavily into vengeance.

She was amusing. I never tried to all that sensitive crap when playing darkside, things like "oh, but we could help each other" or nonsense like "i wont fall to the darkside" or whatever other crap. I was brutally honest. Besides, by the time we even met, my face was already ... changed.Stofsk wrote:What did you do with Bastila, just out of curiosity?

Funnily enough I got Bastila, some mushiness even though my bar was nice and red, and I exploited everywhere for what it was worth(dammit can't kill Griff...ah well another time). I figured if going light I get a kiss, goping dark I get a BJ.Vympel wrote:She was amusing. So as I raided my apprentice, Malak's ill-gotten fortress...I had my wookiee slave and whiny former Jedi do the dirty work for me, before I ripped my former apprentice's stupid head off.

Well he gave a very vague description and unless you read a good deal of NJO you wouldn't have guessed, so no sweat...heck I only knew because of presumption and that it exited the galaxy proper.Stofsk wrote:I didn't know what Canderous was talking about - I've only read SbS of all the NJO, and while a good book it has made me despise the Vong - anyway, it was a nice and enigmatic tie-in.spideycw wrote:A bit off topic but did anyone else notice when the Vong were mentioned by Canderous in KOTOR?

Well, I kinda guessed when Canderous related how the weird thingie left the galaxy for Parts Unknown... though I was hoping it would be a side-quest or part of the Main Event ie. the Raktaka were actually from outside the galaxy, perhaps from those two satellite galaxies we see in AOTC, which could have been a frontier that had just opened up to the SW inhabitants in that time period.Ghost Rider wrote:Well he gave a very vague description and unless you read a good deal of NJO you wouldn't have guessed, so no sweat...heck I only knew because of presumption and that it exited the galaxy proper.
And by the way, reading your post on Bastila, what exactly did you mean when you wrote "I raided my apprentice,"? Oh, and did you mean that you lopped her head off, or Malak's? I'm somewhat confused by your use of the word apprentice - seeings as both may be construed as Revan's apprentice (Malak, obviously, but Bastila later admits she feels "inadequate" around you, which leads me to think that the master-apprentice role was reversed, though at least it probably means the relationship equalised so neither party considered the other "better" than the other. Jesus, I rant on a bit about this shit...).

Actually that was in concert with my statement of Malak's fortress...by that time I had already gotten sugar from Bastilla .Stofsk wrote: And by the way, reading your post on Bastila, what exactly did you mean when you wrote "I raided my apprentice,"?

Malak's head...whiny little bitch that he is, complaining how he can't get his lightsaber to work, why he can't satisfy anything that remotely resembles woman, even droids...and to think that he nearly took me, the great Revan, down...still needed turbolasters to do even that
As for Bastilla I always lauhged how except Jolee the other two were basically "You're a bronzed Jedi god, how can we one day be your unequaled might?" Still I loved the game.

Jolee was a very strange old man. I told him so repeatedly. Then I killed the whiny old fool. Besides, there was the danger his alter ego, Sarevok, would appear, and then where would I be?!
Let's try and get this on a PSW type topic while still discussing game experiences ....
"The Infinite Empire"
For a measly Empire of "500 worlds", it wasn't very infinite.
How big do you think the Star Forge was?
How did the Star Forge build ships (it obviously drew it's power from the sun it was in orbit of, but where did the raw materials come from?)

The Infinite Empire was too small(but didn't it say how many *extras* it also held).Vympel wrote:Jolee was a very strange old man. I told him so repeatedly. Then I killed the whiny old fool. Besides, there was the danger his alter ego, Sarevok, would appear, and then where would I be?!

And I think once I asked for some help with scaling the Star Forge from sean robertson...with the PC version out it'd be easier to take snapsnots and get a good size thought.
And I thought it literally drew power from the Dark Side...I mean the sun bit doesn't really jive completely with that it could manufacture many fighters(look at Malak's scence...I counted 50 fighters being pumped out every 10 seconds passing him by)
Crusiers are debateable but they were able to only take 1/3 of the Republic fleet and come back in a couple years to being stronger then them.

I presume it was an arrogant title given by an equally arrogant race of conquerers. The fact it didn't jive with the reality doesn't matter - they obviously thought they were infinite, and were proven wrong in the long run. Somewhat ironic... and fitting.Vympel wrote:"The Infinite Empire"

They have replicators onboard the Star Forge (one of the two worst aspects of the game - I really hated gaining those uber-jedi robes). Plus, it seemed as though the Star Forge was doing more than simply drawing solar energy from the sun it orbited - it seemed to actually "lift" resources out of there. I don't know for sure, but aren't there all sorts of elements within a sun? Like iron, for instance? How did the Star Forge build ships (it obviously drew it's power from the sun it was in orbit of, but where did the raw materials come from?)
If that doesn't work, then I guess they got their raw materials from the worlds that joined them, or the ones they conquered. Cszerka Corporation was a galactic scale organisation - and they allied with the Sith. Perhaps they supplied them with all the raw materials they needed?
[edit]Actually, the latter makes a great deal of sense, given the context of Cszerka corp. being so prevalent in the story. I mean, they're everywhere - half of the planets you visit (Tattooine, Kashyyk, Korriban).
No, but if you can create infinite amounts of stuff from your handy dandy Star Forge, your arrogance might be somewhat justified (and the name).Vympel wrote:"The Infinite Empire"

Canderous rocks. "The undercity is no place for Davik's men, and I can't babysit them all the time." "Your choice, I'm here if you want something done right." "Light side, dark side, its all the same to me." "If you wanted to keep your daughter, you should have protected her better."Vympel wrote:besides, Canderous didn't approve and I always listen to Canderous

Well, a star pumps out tons of light atomic nuclei (actually mostly hydrogen and helium) every second. If you really wanted the facility to be self-contained, it could merely manufacture materials by fusing hydrogen mined from the solar wind into helium into oxygen and neon into . . . yadda yadda yadda . . . all the way up to iron. And then smash neutrons into the iron nuclei until you get whatever elements you wanted.Stofsk wrote:I presume it was an arrogant title given by an equally arrogant race of conquerers.
