Hapan Military Info.
I have a few questions about the Hapan Military and their power.
1. What are the types of ships used by the Hapan Military (capital ships, cruisers, and starfighters)?
2. How many ships are in the Hapan Military (capital ships, cruisers, and starfighters)?
3. Army? Does the Hapan Military include a Military? How big is it? What kind of weapons would they use?
4. Technology? What kinds of special technology does the Hapan Military use? And have they enhanced their turbolaser power yet? Also, how powerful are their shields compared to an Imperial capital ship?
I am only familiar with a little of the Hapans, and I have not read anything that has the YV in it so I was wondering if there was change in the Hapan's military.
Thanks for any help.

There are also Miy'til bombers and they used X-Wings too.Lazy Raptor wrote:Battle Dragons and Hapes Nova class battle cruisers are their primary capital ships. For starfighters they use their unique Miy'til fighters.
History? I love history! First, something happens, then, something else happens! It's so sequential!! Thank you first guy, for writing things down!

As for their current status, the Hapans brought their fleet into the war against the Yuuzhan Vong - only to see 3/4 of it wiped out in the disaster at Fondor (Agents of Chaos II: Jedi Eclipse). The Hapans sealed their borders and began rebuilding the fleet in secret, having it up and running shortly after the fall of Coruscant (Dark Journey). The rebuilt Hapan fleet would continue to serve with distinction at Obroa-Skai (Destiny's Way) and in the final push to retake Coruscant and end the war (The Unifying Force).

Does that mean the Hapans will finally be reintegrated into Galactic Society?

The Hapan Consortium, according to The Courtship of Princess Leia, contains "sixty-three high-tech worlds." The Hapan cluster is isolated by both their isolationist political and xenophobic defense policies, as well as being located "behind" a region of poorer hyperspace navigation, known as the Transitory Mists. The name suggests a nebula, perhaps rich in young, heavy stars in close proximity, and/or heavy stellar corpses like neutron stars and black holes which ensare space-time in the region of the Hapan cluster.
As for the Hapan defence forces, the novel indicates that the envoy to Coruscant included at least one Olanjii/Charubah Hapan Battle Dragon from each of these sixty-three member worlds, which suggests on the order of a hundred such ships at least, all five hundred metres in diameter. All of these vessels are equipped with "forty turbolasers, forty ion cannons, dorsal and ventral triple ion cannons, ten proton torpedo launchers, a single tractor-beam projector, and four pulse mass generator tubes" (EGtVV, p. 60). Oddly, they are apparently prone to power shortages.
Curiously, the Battle Dragons' (and presumably, all indigenous turbolaser technology) had a fire rate on an average of one third of that of turbolasers from the greater galactic civilization. The Hapan Battle Dragon mounts her weapons on a rail-system which rotates along the perimeter of both the saucers which compose the hull to compensate for the inefficient refire rate. (Note: EGtVV suggests "recharge" inefficiencies, which would suggest inferior Hapan power sources; but a lack of commentary on poor engines or shielding suggests there may be other problems at work, perhaps cooling problems?) Additionally, the Hapan Battle Dragons slave their weapons to only four individual targeting computers; therefore the entire weapons complement of the Battle Dragons must be concentrated on only four seperate target points at maximum. The Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels suggests they are predominantly deployed in groups to overcome shortcomings in targeting and firepower.
The Hapan Battle Dragon carries sixteen pulse-mass mines; a compact gravity-well projector/generator analogous to the more powerful and longer-duration devices aboard the Imperial Starfleet's Immobilser 418/Interdictor-class cruiser and Interdictor Star Destroyer. They are deployed from four launch tubes.
The hangars of the Battle Dragons each support thirty-six fighters in three squadrons of twelve each; with each Squadron Leader equipped with an enhanced fighter. The fighters include Miy'til fighters as well as Incom Corp. T-65 X-Wings. Additionally, support craft usually include four Hapan gunboats, six drop ships, and four personnel shuttles. The troop complement is five hundred ground assault infantry.
Another indigenous design in service with the Consortium's starfleet, in addition to the Olanjii/Charubah Battle Dragons, is the Hapes Nova-class battle cruiser. With a length over all of four hundred metres, it is significantly smaller than the Battle Dragon, but utilizes stolen technology from Kuat Drive Yards and SoroSuub Corporation, no doubt surreptitiously acquired from the Imperial yards in orbit above Hapes. The Hapes Nova was apparently first commissioned over a year after the Battle of Yavin (Note: The Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels claims the Hapes Nova-class was "less than a decade old"; but the source's chronology ends at 11 years after the Battle of Yavin--therefore I assumed the original Hapes Nova was commissioned about a year after Yavin).
The Hapes Nova-class battle cruiser mounts ten turbolasers specifically for engaging enemy capital ships, ten laser cannons for defense against small craft and fighers, and ten ion cannons to disable spacecraft. The vessel's hangar contains two squadrons (twenty-four) of Miy'til fighters, and six Hetrinar assault bombers. They are capable of carrying drop ships or landing barges, in addition to ground troops and combat vehicles, but normally the Hapes Nova-class battle cruiser is used to escort large troopships during planetary invasions.
The Hapan battle cruisers are usually deployed in units of three, not the least of which is due to the fact of the continued problem of inferior fire rates on Hapan turbolasers. However, the battle cruisers lack the Battle Dragons' rail-system for compensation.
A later subclass borrowed inspiration from the Mon Calamari, and mounted back-up shield generators, as well as additional power generators. However, this eliminated the second squadron of Miy'til fighters.
The Hapan defence forces maintained multiple captured Star Destroyers; presumably of the Victory- and Imperial- classes. With nine hundred- and one thousand, six hundred- metre lengths over all respectively, they represent the most massive known vessels in the Hapan starfleet. (Note: the Consortium lacks the infrastructure and sophistication necessary to produce her own Star Destroyers; they were siezed by force when the Empire prepared to abandon their yard at Hapes some time after the defeat at Endor).
As for the exotic Hapan technology, the most infamous and probably only major example was the Hapan Gun of Command; a short-range mind-control device which reduced the target to a easily-suggestible hypnotic-like state.

Thanks, man. Anyway, I thought Courtship was a little contradictory on that part; at the beginning, Han says that when he was smuggling they used to hide on the rim of the Hapes Cluster because the sector hadn't fallen, but now you are telling me the Empire actually maintained a starship yard at Hapes(the planet) itself?
Anyway, although tiny on a galactic scale, their power mostly lies in the fact that their military is rather more organized than the galactic military and is more easily projected- although they still took enormous losses at Fondor. One question: did the Prince Isoldur die there too?

And now, Tenel Ka, Jedi Knight, is Queen of Hapes. I bet the Jedi could hide there if they wanted.

The Galactic Empire subjugated Hapes and turned it into an unwilling client state, and maintained a shipyard over Hapes itself.Guardsman Bass wrote:at the beginning, Han says that when he was smuggling they used to hide on the rim of the Hapes Cluster because the sector hadn't fallen,
The Hapans were permitted to maintain much of their naval forces and their isolationist policies: this was advantageous for anything hush-hush the Empire could hide at Hapes.
I suppose the client state status came with the understanding that the local Moffs wouldn't intrude on Hapan space, and this may have been intentional: there were all kinds of things Palpatine withheld from his underlings.
Either way, it'd be a tiny zone of ambiguity between Imperial patrol and pursuit policies, and the vicious forces of the Hapan client kingdom.
Their military is quite sad compared to other powers; however is inordinately better-trained and larger when compared with its area of operations (the Hapan star cluster).Guardsman Bass wrote:their power mostly lies in the fact that their military is rather more organized than the galactic military and is more easily projected-

Centerpoint Station did 'em in. Thrackan Sal-Solo miscalculated the shot and took out the friendly fleet along with the Vong. (Anakin could have made the shot, but he was too concerned about wiping out the Vong to do it. Confused the hell out of me.)Trytostaydead wrote:I'm surprised the Empire didn't go Japanese and make comfort women out of the Hapan Empire.
Why was the fleet massacred at Fondor, if someone doesn't mind spoiling it a little.

Looks like most of it has been covered since I got here late.Rogue 9 wrote:Actually, I think the Consortium's fleet strength was given towards the beginning of The Courtship of Princess Leia. Its been a loooong time since I've read it though, so I can't give you the rundown. Isolder74, get in here.
Capitol Ships:
Battle Dragon--Disk shaped with rotating turbolaser cannons, pulse mass mine launcher
Nova-class Battlecruiser--Very fast heavily armed
Imperial star destroyers
Fighters:
Miy'til Fighter--Isolder's Storm based on a interceptor Standard Config. Probably 3 blasters, and one light warhead launcher
Hentrinar Bomber--no info but probably at least 2 Heavy warhead launchers
X-Wing Fighter
Special Equiptment:
Gun of Command--Small arm used to incapacitate enemy units Making capture of their defeat easier. I Jedi appears to be able to use the force to counter the effects.
