Droidekas are quite deadly, due to their shields.
What other war droids have shields, I think that is a very significant factor.

whee the mouse bots, for some reason me and my friends always called them 'Toaster Bots' *shrug*. Anyway the floating droid fortress in the X-Wing books is the only one I really know of.

No, Isolder. He's talking about TF Scarab fighters from the game SW:Starfighter.

Unfortunately, the Viper Automadon war droid crushes all the other War Droids, including that Shadow droids, which are actually cyborgs (they incorporate the brain of old Imperial fighter aces which are supposedly endowed wth the Dark Side of the Force.)

Is this a Mark III?
Are there any newer versions of the Dark Trooper suit?

no, that's a Mk. II. Mk 3s are dark-painted, bigger, and have missile launchers in the forearms. They can also function as an exosuit. Yeah, they're wild.

You can find a picture of all three Dark Troopers in The Essential Guide to Droids.
The Mark III is a mean looking machine.
HDS: I think there are only three. I haven't heard of any other versions.

Mark I: carries a shield and sword
Mark II: carries a BIG blaster/missile launcher, is equipped with a repulsor pack
Mark III: missile launchers in the forearms, can be worn as an exosuit by a human operator.

Interestingly, the Darktrooper exosuit armor did in fact go into production. We saw Darktroopers used in Dark Empire 2.

Errr....depends on what you mean by mass-prod. Yes several dozen of each type was built, but when the ARC HAMMER went up, all funding for the DTs went with it.

Except for the Darkside Darktroopers (from Rebellion)
I do believe Darktroopers were mentioned in Dark Empire, but the ones we didnt see have the suits.
It seems Darktroopers in post Dark Forces era became humans in powered armor, basically
