The smaller one could possibly be either a Guauntlet Star Cruiser or a Star Destroyer-class Battlecruiser, though it could still be an Imperator since the Hunchbacked SSD (That’s it’s unofficial nickname) is only a Star Cruiser just above Star Destroyer designation; all gauntlets are just scaled up Imperators, and certain examples of the SD-class Battlecruiser look like very large Imperators as well.Batman wrote:What are both of them? The smaller one in front even allowing for some artistic license due to it being a comic is too long relative to its with and height to be a standard Star Destroyer. The profile's all wrong.

The whole new trilogy was disappointing space-combat-wise.
They had some of the most spectacular naval battles, yet they focused on two goddamned jedi.
Also, I'm gonna have to go with the V-wing airspeeder.
Honestly, what the crap is with that?

There is no such thing as 'too much firepower' because there is no such thing as 'negative dead'.

The canon V-wing airspeeder makes sense. It's described as a low-cost (relative to starfighters) repulsorlift vehicle with ion engines, allowing it to fly higher and faster than normal airspeeders. It's only equipped with two laser cannons. The V-wing is basically a light starfighter without the spaceflight capabilities, making it a cost efficient alternative to starfighters when invading or defending a planet.
The Rogue Squadron V-wing is complete wank though. I have to STRONGLY disagree with the posters in this thread who declared it worthless. The seeker cluster missiles alone made this ship amazing, since you could clear out entire flights of TIEs with the push of a single button. The rapid-fire lasers also gave you amazing firepower, and don't burn out if you tap the fire button instead of holding it down. The scramjet had limited uses, but was a good way to evade the missile swarms the first World Devastator (and only the first one) always shot at you.
The in-game V-wing was damn good, and was basically the key to getting a Gold Medal in every mission. I'm glad it's not canon though, since it's too damn good.

What's more, according to the guy who wrote the databank entry (Pablo?), the Assault Frigate mk. II is 700 m long, longer than the original Dreadnaught! Hey, I guess anything's possible when you can watch the movies and seriously say that the Executor is only 5 miles long.

I just can't stand the Hapan ships.
"Hey, let's make a flying saucer! ...that doesn't look cool enough, let's add ANOTHER saucer and make it a...double-saucer! Yeah! And we'll give them more powerful cannons than a Star Destroyer...but they'll overheat REALLY FAST so we'll just space them all the way around the rings so it'll have to spin them all around to HIT anything! That's a viable design!"

The Battle Dragons don't even make sense. The Hapans are a wealthy and powerful faction relative to their size, but they haven't even achieved Galactic standard turbolasers in several thousand years? Something that even pirates and criminals have? Turbolasers aren't exactly rare or advanced technology.
Yet these same Hapans have managed to rip off interdiction fields and Mon Cal backup shields.

Talking about Hapan ships, I don't mind the look of Isoldors fighter, though the name escapes me.

Aye, that's it, thanks.
One ship that really looks like it was just hastily drawn in a couple of minutes by an artist with a severe deadline was Slave II. Talk about uninspired.

hmm...
Well, from Rogue leader 3: Rebel Strike- I'd say the escort carriers. more like a corvette with a hanger bay.
that, and probably the tie hunter. it's like it was designed for Rebel use, and "ooh, look, it uses wings like an X wing! except it's better and stuff! ooohhh! wonder why they never made any ties look like that before"
and besides, the voices in that game have to be the worst imitations ever.

The suncrusher. Well obviously. The reasons to loathe it are many, but most of them have been mentioned already. So I'll add another. The one i loath second most.
The goddamn, ultra wanked-out EU X-wing. No matter what anyone comes up with, there will always be an X-wing to beat it. When even the EU-writers realized that the x-wing couldn't remain the best fighter ever for all eternity with the way evryone cranked out new and improved fighter designs, the decided that the rebellion got them selves virtually identical UPGRADED X-wings.
It was pretty cool back in the day, but now it's just over-exposed and over-wanked.
And teh bestest figther EVAH!!!!11

The Hapan Battle Dragon. The TL tech is outdated and underpowered, but two fleets of ships are considered vital Galactic Alliance support. (Tempest, Legacy of the Force #3)
Conversion Table:
2000 Mockingbirds = 2 Kilomockingbirds
Basic Unit of Laryngitis = 1 Hoarsepower
453.6 Graham Crackers = 1 Pound Cake
1 Kilogram of Falling Figs - 1 Fig Newton
Time Between Slipping on a Banana Peel and Smacking the Pavement = 1 Bananosecond
Half of a Large Intestine = 1 Semicolon

I despise the Hapan Battle Dragons anyway. The rotating turbolaser emplacements are patently stupid considering that not only is that something that can be achieved much more easily by rotating the ship, the ability to do so is necessary for ships with the range of movement Wars ones do, and the ability to do so quickly enough to matter is trivial with their technology. The rotating part of the battledragons is completely pointless.

Sith battleships seen in KOTOR 1. What an ugly piece of shit. The Ravager seen in KOTOR 2 was much better looking even if it was an ISD clone.
Trade Fed "battleships". What happened to the prequels ? In the originals the bad guys had ISDs, city sized command ships and moon sized battlestations. In prequels the bad guys main capital ship is a freighter !

The Sith Battleships aren't that ugly. They are quite sleek.

That does not change the fact that they were still freighters rather than a purpose built warship. The problem with Trade Fed ships run deeper then the ships themselves. The clone wars was supposed to be an epic conflict. When the adversaries are banks and shipping corporations with converted freighters it does not help. You might like to note that by ROTS, these "freighters" had enough firepower and shielding to preoccupy a few Venators and slightly less ISDs.
The Sith battleships suffer from the Warbird syndrome. Like the Star Trek Warbird having a huge hole inside their hull totaly ruins their look. The Sith Battleships aren't that ugly. They are quite sleek.

They may have been banks and shipping corporations, but they were powerful enough to own several star systems, and had the industrial capabilities to produces quadrillions of battle droids. How does the fact that the seperatists were being funded by large corporations make the war any less epic?Sarevok wrote:The clone wars was supposed to be an epic conflict.
