I'm actually more suprised that Vader and Palpatine didn't pick up on Leia. She was the "daughter" of the Emperors chief rival plus she appears to have been rather politically active considering what she says to Vader in ANH.

I guess they could have believed that Leia was really the daughter of Bail Antilles and Padmé.

Anything's possible. It would only make sense to me if Skywalker is as common per capita as Smith or Jones, and the name itself wouldn't set off any alarms in Imperial Records Department...

It'd just make Vader that more evil if all along he had left Luke to rot on Tatooine with nothing to do on Saturday nights, knowing what a boring place that dustball is... :)

I think it's Bail Organa.

Is there anything in the EU that says Padme actually goes on in the story?

Luke asks Leia about her mother, her "REAL mother", suggesting that she was raised by an adoptive mother as well as father after Padme makes her exit.

I thought that was strange too that Vader didn't feel anything about Leia as he did with Luke. I guess Daddy wanted a boy to carry on the family name...

 D'oh! Of course.

Bail must be a popular name on Alderan. (Wasn't Jimmy Smitts character called Bail Antilles?).

Nope. The credits say Bail Organa so he's Leia's adoptive Daddy. Wonder if he'll do more in III or will he be relegated to Owen/Beru screentime...

Well, as many have stated before, Lucas's official policy, is that the films (the latest versions of course) are the pure canon, followed closely by the official screenplays, official novelisations of those films, and official radio dramas.

Everything else that is officially liscensed with the Star Wars logo is "quasi canon" and either it doesn't count, or it counts in continuity where it doesn't contradict the higher canon.

What the "fans think" is irrelevant, unless you're setting up the debate standards right here. ; )

Personally I think a lot of the EU is crap, I prefer the official canon almost 99% of the time, but I still enjoy some of the EU and I acknowledge that its part of the continuity, at least the parts that don't contradict.

Vader probably didn't know he had a son (Episode III will clear that up though) until after Luke blew up the Death Star (between that time and the time of Empire, when he's actively looking for him). He didn't know he had a daughter either until he was fighting Luke in ROTJ.

Just think how silly it would be for Vader to know his wife was pregnant, but not realize that she had TWO force sensitive buns in the oven, and not just one. You'd think he'd have that power... after all Padme has never shown us an inkling that she has the force, much less enough to fool somebody as powerful as Anakin.

More about private industry in the galaxy.

Post by RoystonLodge »

Here's what I want to see:

Where is private industry in the Star Wars galaxy? So far, twe've only seen the evil Trade Federation and those wacky aliens who do all the cloning. Where is all the private industry? We've seen from the vibrant small business on Coruscant that the Republic isn't a communist/socialist state.

I want to see Incom, Industrial Automaton, Cybot Galactica, Sienar Flight Systems. I want to see how they are run before and after the Clone Wars and the rise of the Empire. Does the Emperor nationalize these companies? Does he deregulate them and allow them to run rampant over people's rights? How do they fight back or collaborate with the Empire? How does the Rebellion recruit a company like Incom while Sienar aligns with the Empire? What do both sides of the conflict promise the companies to get them on-side?

It'd be nice to see Lucan bring the Corporate Sector into the Canon. It'd be neat to see the Corporate Sector evolve from a vibrant and responsible segment of galactic society into a perverse, amoral force for injustice as the Emperor takes over.

I think the story of the Eps 1 through 3 could be way richer if these companies were brought into it. The parallel of Republic vs. Empire and Incom vs. Sienar could be really interesting.
