well njo was primarily handing the torch to the younger generation of jedi, so we should be seeing more of jaina an jacen an less of luke an leia.

Bump.

The NJOE's interview with Karren Traviss, author of Republic Commando: Hard Contact and one of the three authors for Legacy of the Force, is up. Since in the interview was conducted before Celebration III, it reaffirms a lot of what came out the other week and so there's nothing really new to report. Still an interesting read, though; you can find it on the NJOE extras page.

New quasi-related information from TheForce.net's updated Celebration III report, this time dealing with Timothy Zahn. Though he's at work on a Mara Jade novel set during the OT, he's also interested in writing a Luke/Mara/Ben Skywalker story set post-Legacy.

(Also, on a side note, he also cleared up a few questions related to his earlier novels, namely the matter of the Far Outsiders first mentioned in The Hand of Thrawnduology. He confirmed once and for all that that he intended them to be the Yuuzhan Vong, but wasn't allowed to be more specific than he was).

New info from NJOE, which in turn comes from the Force.net on the basic summaries of each book of the trilogy:
Dark Nest I
Seven years after their daring assault deep inside enemy territory (Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Star by Star), Jaina Solo and her fellow survivors answer a mysterious call for help and vanish into the Unknown Regions. Soon, the Jedi Council learns that the group has undertaken a mission that will drive a wedge between the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances and its skittish ally, the Chiss Ascendancy. The investigation leads Luke Skywalker and his companions-Mara Jade Skywalker and Han and Lela Solo-on a perilous journey into the uncharted void that iles between what is right and what is wrong...

We already pretty much knew this much. Now onto the next two books:
Dark Nest II
The second book in a trilogy that will bridge the events of the hugely popular New Jedi Order series, which has sold four million copies to date, and our upcoming 9-book epic Star Wars series to be published in 2006-2008. Despite being given new worlds to populate, the insectoid Killiks have not found peace. A seemingly unknowable enemy has been attacking the new nests--and the Killiks hold the Jedi responsible. Traveling back to the Unknown Regions to unravel the mystery, the Skywalkers and Solos discover an evil far more familiar than they ever expected...and even more terrifying. Why does the dark nest want to kill Mara? Will Jacen's apocalyptic vision trigger another galactic war, or prevent one? And perhaps most ominous of all, what deadly secret are the Killiks hiding? To find out, Luke, Mara, Han, and Leia must embark on a perilous journey into the uncharted void between right and wrong. The ferocious Unknown Terrors are only the beginning of the awesome challenges that lie ahead in their quest to fathom the unfathomable.
...and...
Dark Nest III
The third and last book in the all-new trilogy that will bridge the events of the hugely popular New Jedi Order series, which has sold four million copies to date, and our upcoming 9-book epic Star Wars series to be published in 2006-2008. With the Jedi Order splintered by conflicts of conscience, and a war erupting between the Killiks and Chiss that could spread across the entire galaxy, Luke Skywalker takes charge. His bold plan will play all sides against each other and carry those closest to him deep into hostile territory. It is also the only thing standing between the galaxy and the eternal war that his nephew, Jacen, has foreseen in visions. For the Jedi to succeed, they must step beyond the reach of any galactic government and undermine the war-making capabilities of all sides -- and Luke Skywalker must assume his fated role as true master of the Jedi Order.

Hm. It actually looks interesting. I wouldn't mind if for once the Rampaging Insect Swarm of Doom (TM) was portrayed in a positive light and as something other than some numberless devouring enemy.

I don't actually remember a previous cover with her holding a lightsaber. So Leia looks pretty cool, imo

Correct; I believe the one she used for the remainder of the NJO was not a new one, but the one Luke had built for her back before the Thrawn trilogy. Whether or not this is a totally new one will remain to be seen.

Actually, she still has the red lightsaber. It is seen in Enemy Lines: Rebel Stand. She uses it to escape that prison on the planet that sided with the Peace Brigade.

Then somethings wrong.
In the end of Balence Point, Tsavong Lah clearly throws it into a burning pit.

But your right, its a red saber used in Enemy Lines.

Bump.

New information passed on by Troy Denning has been posted on NJOE. It regards the status of the Bothans, Admiral Krey'fey, and the Imperials in the post-war era; be warned that it does contain spoilers...

***

By the time Joiner opens, Kre'fey is no longer Supreme Commander. Shortly after the war he was removed from office because of certain Bothans' refusal to give up ar'krai. There is a new Bothan in the higher echelons of the military, but Sien Sovv has been reinstated as Supreme Commander.
...and...
Both the Imperial Remnant and the Empire of the Hand will be involved peripherally in the trilogy.

I thought Luke destroyed the Empire of the Hand station manned by Parck and Fell? Or am I incorrect?

Did the Empire of the Hand have any other assets? I thought there was some talk of shipyards...

In any case, I assume the Empire of the Hand is a sort of pseudo-entity that exists at the sufferance of the Chiss - much like the CSA and the Empire?

He destroyed a turrent, destroying Jade's Fire to do it.

And the Hand had MASSIVE assets, something like a quarter of the unknown regions, shipyards scattered all over the place.

And yes.

And the Empire of the Hand was peopled or staffed by Chiss, or humans, Chiss, and others?

Also - the new, alien Stormtroopers. Those are the Imperial Remnant, or the Empire of the Hand?

Imperial remnant.

They were even a major segment of an elite stormtrooper group (The 501st) as of the Zahn book covering Luke and Mara investigating remnant's of the outbound flight.

Mostly chiss, with a few exceptions such as Baron Fel and those two Imperial commanders who found Thrawn.

Actually, the 501st was from the Empire of the Hand.
