Hera mentioned something about them having to conserve energy so maybe going full power wasn't an option? (I know, looking for in-universe answers rather than just going 'because it's just a TV series').

'You're a princess from a society of immortal warriors. I'm a rich kid with issues. Lots of issues.'

'Tactically we have multiple objectives. So we need to split into teams.'-'Dibs on the Amazon!'
'Hey, we both have a Martian's phone number on our speed dial. I think I deserve the benefit of the doubt.'

That would be a logical explanation, since weapons are gonna be a high power demand system they'll probably ran at "as low as we can get away with" and that's ignoring that if the ghost has to run at low power shields aren't probably at full either or at very least they'd want to avoid as much damage to the shield (and thus greater power consumption). Same goes for engines.

Basically if you're so low on fuel that conserving energy is a important consideration going full power on guns or engines might something you do when you have absolutely no other choice, if you're capable of going full power to begin with.
I may be an idiot, but I'm a tolerated idiot

Maybe not. Going back to "A Princess on Lothal", Leia's ships were locked down by some relatively small gravity locks. Then go ahead to The Force Awakens where Finn and Poe's stolen TIE gets tethered by a cable still attached to it.

Ships in Star Wars usually take off and maneuver through the use of repulsorlifts to an appropriate launch window before engaging their thrusters(which are what put ships in orbit so fast). These three incidents suggest that initial lift-off doesn't use all that much power, just enough to actually move the ship.

Furthermore, this is silk we're talking about. Which in normal Earth creatures is stronger than steel of the same dimensions. Discounting the possibility of sci-fi alien super-silk, they still covered the Ghost in enough of the stuff to equal and exceed the steel straps and cables that we use in ports around the world to hold down vehicles for transport on a ship.

Why did they go through all that effort and not find the pilot? Poor red shirt.

Agreed - at least if they had shown a body or something, then leaving her behind would have made sense.

I wonder who set the trap from the previous episode. Clearly someone organized the Imperial fleet to ambush the rebel fleet at their original base location choice. It was only because of Chopper's actions that the Rebel fleet survived and evaded the trap thanks to getting the tactical droid to defect. Was it Vader, Tarkin, Agent Kallus, or someone else?

I want to know how the Inquisitors are tacking them, can't just be a Sith trance or some such. Gotta be something else helping.

Is it just me, or does Disney not have the finale up for streaming yet despite it starting 36 minutes ago?

Spoiler
The Inquisitors died doing what they loved the most, flying with the breeze of their roflcopters caressing their helmets...
The rest of it was fantastic though

I'm intrigued as to what S3 will bring us, especially the results of Pandoras box being opened at the end.

I haven't seen it because it doesn't seem to play here any more, but I gather that Spoiler
Ashoka is heavily implied (but not explicitly confirmed) to be dead.

I'm surprised by how sad that makes me, considering how little I initially liked the character.

The opposite, actually. Spoiler
You can see a figure that is pretty obviously Ashoka shrouded in smoke making her way into the temple after they show that owl-creature flying off.

Yeah. I get why they did it; they needed the Inquisitors to be more mobile than the protagonists so that they could feasibly be an obstacle to them reaching the top of the temple. But using the lightsabers as helicopters was just dumb.

That said, other than the technical hiccup, the rest of the episode was fantastically done. Since the spoiler tags have already fucked up the page format I won't add more, so I'll leave it there.

I guess they couldn't afford animating a few jetpacks.

A clip from the episode:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UVJSJOiLk4

Some of the dialog is a bit... lacking, but there was this awesome exchange during Spoiler
Vader's initial confrontation with Ezra.

Ezra: "I don't fear you."

Vader: "Then you will die braver than most."

Ashoka seemed to be taking a step toward the Dark Side with her desire to "avenge" Anakin. But later, after realizing his identity, she seemed to imply that she wanted to try to save him instead. Interesting.

I do wonder what happened between them after Ezra left, as it looks like Ashoka indeed did not die.

And damn, Vader is fast compared to what we see in the OT. This is Vader at his height.
Oh, and points for using a variant of the Imperial March in the score.

The Inquisitor's lightsabres are getting increasingly ridiculous. The spinning was one thing, the helicopter is useful if silly but the spinning blades? It's a lightsabre, it can already cut trough anything most things! Why would you add one?
Spoiler
At least we don't have to see these clowns anytime soon. Finally someone actually doing some cutting down.
Credo!

Well, there's a good reason for the Inquisitors. You don't want them overusing Vader, do you? And the heroes need foes that can pose a challenge, but can still ultimately be beaten.

Okay, putting Ashoka and Inquisitorial roflcopters (Holy Victory Gundam, Batman!) aside for a bit, can we talk about Maul now? He's certainly learned subtlety, hasn't he?

I think the lightsaber roflcopter was just used by that one masked inquisitor. The others didn't seem to use them that way.

Interesting that Vader's voice modulator ceased to function and he actually sounded like Anakin when he spoke to Ahsoka. His face also seemed to be in better condition than it should be.

No, they all did the ROFLcopter thing when they passed the protagonists on their way to the top of the temple.

Yup. They all used the roflcopter and yes it was silly. Maul betraying the team was depressingly predictable and getting cornered by a droid using your own fighter? Man, that must have burned :)
The Wars universe has always been a very...vertical place but I think they overdid it with the Sith temple/superweapon.
Otherwise, fantastic episode.

It was a mix of James Earl Jones and Matt Lanter. So the modulator was only half broken.

And that whole third act was just positively amazing.

Also, what with Kanan going blind and all, they pretty much overwrote the character archetype of Rahm Kota. So TFU is even deader than the rest of the Legends EU now. Suck it, Gary Stukiller.
