Could someone post picture of these people... except Sydow. Everyone knows MING THE MERCILESS!

Also, could a mod split the casting news into it's own thread? I think that would be better for the conversation.

Or he could be the Chancellor/President of the New Republic.

One of the reasons I'm looking forward to Andy Serkis being cast more than any other actor in that list - while most people know him from his work as Gollum and King Kong, my favourite role of his is in Sugarhouse, a fairly low-budget british film in which he plays a psychotic drug baron.
Yeah, I've always taken the subtext of the Birther movement to be, "The rules don't count here! This is different! HE'S BLACK! BLACK, I SAY! ARE YOU ALL BLIND!?

Destiny and fate are for those too weak to forge their own futures. Where we are 'supposed' to be is irrelevent.
£2 says any jobbing British actor/ress who has left GoT will in the new trilogy at some point. I would recommend Attack The Block for those who want to see John Boyega in action. Quite the antihero in that. You, uh...may need the subtitles on though.

EDIT: Which is not to say that's a bad thing, since the OT cast was pretty obscure in 1977 as well. I don't know if McGregor or Portman had much to their resumes before Episode I, or Christiansen prior to Episode II, either.
Most of 'em will be theatre regulars or jobbing around the TV dramas. None of em will be in the media you'd want to be reading anyway.

Nope, but this is apparently the principal cast. He could have a supporting role.
Yeah, I hope Lando has some role.
I want to see more of the Love Commander (thank you, Aaron Allston) .
The Love Commander? I don't recall that one. If they include decent bits of the EU in EP 8 or 9 I'd love to see Wraith Squadron turn up.

Damm.
Given Denis Lawson is quite negative when it comes to Star Wars, I'm not surprised (he turned down a cameo in ROTS). However, this is only the main cast, so it's possible that Lawson could appear in a supporting role (but I don't hold any hopes).
I bet most of the people who only ever saw the films wouldn't have a goddamn clue who Wedge was. His role was important, but his character was very, very small.
And he spent much of the films under a helmet and in the dim lighting of a cockpit. They could recast him in a nanosecond and nobody would be the wiser outside of the geek community, who generally aren't happy with anything you do for them anyway, no matter how many millions of dollars you spend on them.

Funny you should mention that, they already did. Wedge was played by one actor in the Death Star briefing scene, and by another actor whenever you see him in the cockpit of the X-wing. No, really!

Didn't he also try to convince Ewan Mcgregor (His nephew) not to take the part as Obi-Wan?
Anyways, I sincerely doubt Wedge would appear in the new movies. Yes he was in Ep IV-VI, but he's basically an EU character. His personality, back story, and character arc are solely products of the Expanded Universe.
And this is why you don't watch anything produced by Ronald D. Moore after he had his brain surgically removed and replaced with a bag of elephant semen.-Gramzamber, on why Caprica sucks

He did, but McGregor ignored him.

True. It's easy to forget that Wedge's prominence in the fanbase owes less to the movies and more the X-Wing books.
