Most retarded "Talifan" criticism ever
Moderator: Vympel
So basically, he would agree with our points in the end, but because he's only interested in a few cheap jabs about "SW nerds", that's all he cares about and that's why he keeps ignoring our points about the numbers in the first place?
Well, that basically kills the whole thread right there. *shrugs*
EDIT: I have read the first "column" by now. Don't feel any compulsive need to read the second part.

And yet you've missed that there are in all three threads over at TFN that deals with the debate from different angles (the most active thread at the moment is the Odds thread).Bryan Lambert wrote:And even though the main thread on theforce.net spans EIGHT MONTHS,
Mr. Lambert. I understand that you're not a fan of numbers, but I'll give you one anyhow. The Jedi Council Forums has 216,934 members, that's 1583.459854 times more than yours. You see, people on both sides of the fence generally agree that the number is too low, and here we have a member of the JC who chimed in just to say that. But it must feel good, doesn't it? To snipe at people who doesn't know about it from far away?Bryan Lambert wrote:with the most recent post, two weeks ago, containing the most contextually redundant statement in the history of the Internet ("this is what i believe. 3 million is way too little a number."), all this really means is that the nerds have built the Great Pyramid of Giza of pointless nerd arguments. And buried inside is the mummified corpse of Tutenkhamensense.
*Yawn*. I can please you with the fact that the said person is a member here. If you had bothered to actually read the thread over at TFN as well as Wayne Poe's KT database which you claim to have read, you would've noticed something: even the Fandalorians couldn't find any evidence of "abuse":Bryan Lambert wrote:YADA, YADA, YADA... Talifan... YADA... The website, run by one Wayne Poe and cleverly titled "Travissty", summarizes in painstaking detail the complete lack of abuse directed toward Traviss by the Talifan. It does this by the slightly dubious technique of hiding the insults in an undifferentiated vast page of lengthy, boring quotes.
Master, I'm a Fando, but I do agree with you when I say that I couldn't find any evidence [of Karen being flamed] either. I even scoured the old GGAR article thread to find evidence, and came up empty.
As for boring, you must've looked at your own writing.Starkiller, if anyone has done anything to Karen, I hope they feel guilty. Thing is, we've found no evidence. If my fellow Fandos, or anyone, have any evidence, please present it.

Have you guys checked out this dumbshit's forum?
Oh, and here's the same retard's summary of this thread:
Apparently, this dumbass never noticed the dozens of times throughout this site that Mr. Wong's full name shows up, or all those pictures he has of his family. Then again, to these people, uninvolvement and not expending the effort to research before making claims is the cool thing to do. The fact that he's actually disputing that knowledge of the 3 million debate is quite geeky is also unbelievable. The mere fact that someone as stupid as Bryan can exist, and actually have a forum of fans makes me angry and disgusted with the world. Then again, this is the internet, a place where all the morons and freaks can come out. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, since even DARKSTAR has fans. I bet I could make my own blog or website, intentionally post retarded crap, and still attract a bunch of crazies.Michael Clear wrote:Apparently, Darth Wong's wife (yeah, that's his posting handle, which tells me his "wife" could be his right hand) is some sort of world authority on what people should and shouldn't know so if she doesn't know it, it's apparently some sort of secret geek code. or not. Sorry if that makes no sense, but neither does the Wongster's writing.Darth Wong wrote:My own wife has no idea that this argument is taking place, for fuck's sake. If you mentioned "Karen Traviss" to her, she'd probably ask if I'm talking about one of the other parents at my son's private school.
Oh, and here's the same retard's summary of this thread:
Michael the Clear Retard wrote:If you're not paying attention here is what our wonderful new friends Stark, Jim Raynor, et al have been saying:
1) Bryan engages in horrible personal attacks.
2) Bryan is a fucktard.
3) Bryan clearly hates Star Wars.
4) Bryan is clearly a Star Wars fanboy.
5) Even though the moderator and owner of the site asked him to post and respond to the criticisms, no one wants him there and he will get banned by the people who invited him, and he still hasn't responded to the criticism and I don't like the responses he has made.
6) Why do you keep defending the 3 million clone warriors number?
7) Why won't you defend the 3 million clone warriors number?
Eight months is a perfectly reasonable amount of time to discuss a trivial issue that cannot be settled in this manner, if at all.
9) The 6 hours Lambert has been posting here is too long.
10) I never argue the 3 million number even though I'm doing it now.

So, you know, just to see what there was to see i read through that little thread over there. Besides the fact they think this is Darth Wong's 'blog', which is funny as i have no idea what the hell a blog is exactly...
They appear to have some kind of obsession with restating how 'adult' and 'mature' they are compared to everyone else. Its their 'theme' i guess. They seem to consider anything that is beyond their grasp or scope to be 'childish' no matter if it is or isnt. And they restate incessantly how lame and nerdy everyone else is and circlejerk all day basically. Also one of the forum rules is "Never Argue With A Mod...That Means Never!" so, i guess they're kindred spirits with TFN.
Stark they have a thing for you. They have developed some fixation on you or something. It must have been four or five posts after the other about Stark, he must have made some impression on mr Lambert's flock.

Man, I couldn't wait to get home and dive into this new controversy a' brewin'. Then, I read this thread and find that Bryan Lambert is nothing more than an Arkady Hodge-level style over substance "hard" scifi snob who thinks he has actually mastered clever wordplay. And we all know how sad and pathetic "hard-scifi" snobs are, don't we? They decry the sad state of affairs where REAL scifi takes a backseat to scifi that is, you know, fun to read. See, "hard scifi" is REAL scifi, where ferrets are leaders of planets, and the androgynous hero uses his sense of smell to pilot a spaceship, while his sphincter muscles fire said ship's weapons.
See, old Bryan is an evolved nerd. He hides behind the false shield of deprecation to tell us he's a geek too, but he's "one of the guys", unlike the rest of us. I'm not going to bother breaking down old Bryan's column on me; what would be the point? I mean, its his opinion, and if opinions are like assholes, I wouldn't want to oblige Bryan in tearing apart his. That's as close to anal rape as I want to get. I'll leave that to his ambiguous female friend in the Laura Croft costume.
Google is your friend. Could I be mistaken? Is this the wrong Bryan Lambert? Possibly. I mean, there's a magician that share's Mike's name on the net too. And while our Mike is a magical kind of guy, I haven't known him to pull rabbits out of anything. But Bryan? You know this MUST be him.

Let alone one where I'd dress up as a mascot to ultimate embarassment. And I don't collect WWF action figures and Barbie dolls, and pose them together for a webpage, either.

Yeah, a forum with a whopping 137 members of which only five (other than Mr. Lambert himself) seems to be active. I'd say it's a dwindling flock.18-Till-I-Die wrote:Stark they have a thing for you. Poe, what gives you the idea that this guy is a hard scifi snob? However, you were spot on about how he's an "evolved" nerd. Mr. Lambert is obviously much too cool to give a shit about clone trooper numbers, and his opinion on the debate is simply that 3 million "seems like a lot." Lambert doesn't waste his time doing retarded things like talking about SW. He just lurks and trolls sites and message boards across the internet, writing columns about other people talking about SW.

I saw that too. These idiots are so caught up in posing as superior and intelligent that they actually declared a common, widely used and accepted abbreviation as stupid. That's a really great find, Poe! In the context of what you found, this thread has been comedy writing itself and my assessment of that worthless dickwad was far more accurate than I guessed.

The term "Scifi" was coined by Forrest J. Ackerman, which makes it QUITE legitimate. FUCCCK hard "science fiction" fans. I woke up a few hours before I had to leave for work, so I decided to run a WHOIS on the two sites. Alas and alack (or is it alac?), I don't think the two Bryan Lamberts are the same. HGI is out in California, and our friend is in Minnesota.
All the same, can we just delete this thread when the cockmongler inevitably gets banned? No sense giving him more ego-fapping material than is necessary.

I think Bryan Lambert sums up his own position quite well actually, take a gander...
"And that, ladies and gentlemen, is when you know a nerd cannot be better. When he takes his desperate power-fantasies, makes them manifest, and shows them to you under the mistaken impression that it's funny. Once that happens, it's official. Damn, I had no idea that this thread would balloon to 7 pages when I left it last night.
Interesting to see how the ignorant twats at YAD measure intelligence: by one's tastes in entertainment. By happy coincidence, I actually have a blog entry about that very fallacy. Of course, I'm one of those people who measures intelligence by professional and educational credentials and applicable job or life skills rather than something as ridiculous as one's entertainment tastes, but someone like Bryan Lambert and his haughty fellow Nerds in Denial would obviously not understand or appreciate that.
Ultimately, I have to say that he's said nothing to disprove my "Geek in Denial" accusation. He claims that there is a proper way to be a sci-fi fan and attacks anyone who differs from this model: clearly a case of someone who takes sci-fi fandom far too seriously. He does think that anyone who gets into heated or protracted arguments about this is "nerdy", which is the exact same thing he did here for the entire evening (what's the matter Bryan, you don't have a girlfriend to fuck?).
And his little boyfriends are such geeks that they find it hard to believe we could be any different (their incredulity at the fact that I actually have a wife and kids speaks volumes): a classic sign of what any normal person would regard as "nerditry". Worse yet, as I said above, these children actually judge someone's intelligence by his sci-fi tastes rather than things like "what kind of education do you have" or "what do you know about real-life history" or "can you do calculus". They accuse other people of being "childish" based on criteria like "do you use bad language" or "do you flame people over a sci-fi debate" rather than a real adult's criteria like "do you take responsibility for your own mistakes". Pathetic.

Addendum: they seem to believe that their refusal to apply real-life historical, military, and scientific principles to sci-fi wherever possible (ie- without totally altering the entire premise of the movie) makes them less "nerdy" than us. In reality however, people who don't apply real-life historical, military, and scientific principles to sci-fi wherever practical generally fail to do so for one simple reason: they don't know how. From from making them better sci-fi fans, it only means they're inferior real-life people.
Applying real-life historical, military, and scientific principles to sci-fi doesn't mean you're "too nerdy"; it means that you are so familiar with those principles in real-life that it irks you to see them abused onscreen or in print (assuming you're doing it correctly of course; if you're doing it incorrectly then it just means you're a poser). It is outlandish to expect an engineer like myself not to be irked at abuse of engineering concepts in sci-fi, just as it would be outlandish to expect a real-life soldier not to be irked at abuse of military principles in sci-fi. Calling such people "nerds" for trying to apply real-life principles to sci-fi only reveals that the people making such accusations aren't bothered by abuse of those real-life principles: a state of mind which rather strongly suggests that they don't know jack shit about them in the first place.

Don't you just love how Lambert leaves and declares victory when this entire 7 page thread is proof that he's nothing but an evasive sound byte-spewing moron? Then again, I'm glad he's gone. Good riddance indeed.
