The pictures I saw were Y-wing pilots (Gold Group). Once again, people who set out to fix what wasn't broken inevitably fuck it up.

Gold group, really?

Then shouldn't the symbols be gold? The fact is we don't see any of these helmets once they're up in space, again... do we? As I remember, the pilot's faces were seen briefly in shadow, I would have to watch it again to see if it was one of the actual actors we see later to say "yeah, his helmet should have been... X".

I think Adywan assumed it was an error, because in the novelization it was Blue Squadron, hence the blue decals on the helmets, which he turned red.

A real "fix" would be to make the helmets match the actors in the cockpits later on.

Though theoretically these "pristine" helmets could be the members of Red Squadron we don't actually see, I guess.
fun/fantasy movies existed before the overrated Star Wars came out. What made it seem 'less dark' was the sheer goofy aspect of it: two robots modeled on Laurel & Hardy, and a smartass outlaw with bigfoot co-pilot and their hotrod pizza-shaped ship, and they were sucked aboard a giant Disco Ball. -adw1
Someone asked me yesterday if Dracula met Saruman and there was a fight, who would win. I just looked at this man. What an idiotic thing to say. I mean really, it was half-witted. - Christopher Lee

How do you feel about this?
Frankly, I like the rich, deep blue color (as seen in that shot where we get a horizontal view of the Executor and we see TIEs flying back and forth).

It's beautiful... I think the "everything is matte gray!" Empire color-scheme is so overdone, and it's not supported by the movies themselves (except ANH).

It is interesting though that since 1983, it seems like every portrayal of the TIEs outside the movies has been gray (apart from a couple of toys that were light blue/gray). It's become a brainbug.

Still, I'll take blue/gray over just plain gray anyday. I agree with "normalizing" the colors so they're the same from shot to shot, but not taking away the blue entirely or minimizing it to the point where it might as well be gray.

Proper method for burning...

Post by Kurgan »

Okay, I do apologize (does anyone read these threads besides me anyway?)... I screwed up.

I apologize for any coasters my earlier messages may have caused anyone.

The method I posted elsewhere DOES WORK, but sadly, half the time you'll end up with a movie that stutters halfway through (at the layer change) and may only play on your PC (instead of stand alone DVD players)... which sucks.

The REAL WAY that I finally discovered (had explained to me on OT.com) to do it is this:

1) Download the DVD9 ISO (from the usual t0rrent places).

2) "Mount it" with Daemon Tools (google it, the program is free and easy to use).

3) Daemon tools creates a "virtual DVD" that you can open in "My Computer" and drag the files (with structure intact) to your hard drive).

4) Open up VIDEO_TS_fixed.rar (which came with the torrent, and is also available on Fanedit.org below the DVD9 files) and extract the files with Winrar... replace any files in the DVD compliation.

5) Burn with Nero to quality Dual Layer media (I use Memorex, others recommended Sony or Verbatim).

6) Watch and enjoy!

Applying the fix files should correct the stuttering and compatibility issues, but again, really cheap and/or old players may still have problems with this (and other burned media, especially DL burned media)!

I used ImgBurn and a dual-layer DVD. It worked on the first try.

What type of media? What speed?

My main concern is making sure it actually works on standalone DVD players...

Well, in any case, burning at 8x doesn't seem to affect them. I've gotten three perfect burns of the DVD9, and I watched them on a couple of different stand alone players and they work fine. Only a barely perceptable split second pause at the layer change (when Tarkin says "terminate her, immediately!").

The Purist Edition also works great (though it's only single layer, so there was never any problem for me, I figured I'd test it anyway).

The Emperor's old lines are restored (from Ian's dialog) and he says "yes" twice.

Apparently there's some audio of Ian saying "Luke" but I haven't heard it to see if it could even fit.

Now he just needs the side view, which shouldn't be too hard... just grab it from the "Emperor's arrival" scene.
