So what, what is he gonna do, write nasty posts in his blog while you are busy fucking your girlfriend?

Dark Moose banned me at the drop of a hat after I accused him of misquoting me (with evidence, I might add). He's not above using the ban function in an effort to remove people who he doesn't like.

THATS why you were banned? What an asshole. Isn't there ANY way to report this abuse of power?

Something like that came up once. The defense of the mods thee was that there was nothing in their terms that said they were held to higher standards of integrity or some such and thus they could do as they please.

I did report it, actually. What happened was this:

He misquoted me and used that misquote to accuse me of flaming another member.

I replied that he was misquoting me, and my comments were not intended as a flame, but apologized for any offense I might have caused.

Dark Moose ordered me not to talk about the moderation of the website on the thread, and instructed me to go to Forum Feedback if I wanted to discuss it.

I brought it up in forum feedback, and pointed out that I had been misquoted.

Dark Moose became MASSIVELY belligerent and started saying that I had been running around the boards flaming everyone in sight, using sock puppets, etc.

I said that I hadn't done any of that, and asked him to quote me when I was flaming someone.

Dark Moose brough up the misquote (again).

I pointed out that I had disputed that claim.

Dark Moose said I was never going to understand.

I said that his stating that violated their TOS regarding flaming (ie. accusing another member of being incapable of understanding something).

Dark Moose banned me.

I appealed the ban by beginning another thread.

Dark Moose pointed out that the TOS allowed for mods and admins to ban people at any time for any reason.

Dark Moose IP banned me.

The thread in which the original incident happened was deleted.

Nope. If you make any mention of it in Forum Feedback, you get laughed down as "calling abuse of power on the Mods." Either you get mocked by the Mod community in general, or their legions of cronies do it for them (this assuming you don't get banned for speaking out.) Believe me, this seems to happen a lot, and I used to be one of the deriders, making fun of the people who called foul. Only now do I understand that they actually had real complaints and greviances, covered up by the Administrators and other Mods. In short, I can't think of anyway you could actually effectively get a point across to those who could do something about it. Pabawan is almost as bad as DM, Bonnie seems to believe Moderators in favor of their decryer's most of the time. The other Admin, Ghent, is hardly ever around, although he does seem to be the most reasonable of the lot.

Yeap. That's the only thing DM cited when he banned me. He couldn't even find a violation that I had committed.

Deep down, I think they all know they're full of shit, except they're either too proud or too bitter to admit it. Hell, the god-damned authors know it as well. Both Traviss and Kaufman haven't posted in that thread for several pages now, and the only time they did was when RK acted like a spoiled brat over the mis-spelling of his name.

I still say you should slam the authors from the continuity and self-consistency angle. Don't say, "It's not realistic!" tell the morons that what they are saying flies in the face of everything else that is shown in most other EU sources. Not to mention the movies, novelizations, and Clone Wars cartoon. Say that the laws of physics are well established within the world, and that it degrades the story when these are not kept self-consistent. Lightsabers exist, as does FTL travel, and incredible power generation and materials science capabilites (see Death Star). However, people don't fly, chopping someone's head off is lethal, Clones are not inmensely superior to Droids, and the bullshit they are spewing out does not jive with everything else.[/i]

Actually, you shouldn't have a lot of confidence in the TFN mod team either, and there had been innocent victims. Still, compared to SW.com as I hear it, it seems like TFN is heaven itself.
