Because it reduces the margin for error- it assists the soldier, it does not mean the soldier doesn't need to make any effort.

Yes and think about this. If every time the stormtroopers appear in the movie they shoot with 100% efficiency, Solo would die in Dock-94.
Chewie, Luke and Leia die on the Death Star and in that case Obi-wan probably escapes because he doesn't have to sacrifice himself for no one.

The movie would be quite boring.

Such efficiency is impossible. No fancy targeting system will get you such efficiency.

Instead try to imagine how would they shoot if they don't have this help...

One of my favourite part was always the scene on the Tantive IV.
The stormies and the rebel troops shoot at each other from approx ten meters and there was only five victims...

Like in a Naked Gun movie!!!

Of course, as always, consider the weapons they were using. The Rebels had pistols, and the Troopers had machineguns...

Additionally, Clonetroopers (and Stormies too) are trained as shocktroops who come down out of the sky and whip ass. Under these circumstances, camo painted uniforms are probably not the highest ranking items on the Imperial Budget. :P
Interesting. Perhaps it is part of some insidious scheme to make neon colours more fashionable???

Yes it does, since stormtroopers can go for short durations in space, meaning their suits can be totally sealed.

It wasn't THAT smokey and the hole the Stormtroopers made was only big enough for them to come through one at a time (of course when you consider how many rebels were sitting out in the open with no cover it only gets worse).

Still their performance isn't really any worse than your average action movie henchmen so *shrug*

It would have to be made of several different layers, but the fact that it can withstand sufficient force to throw a person across a room and nearly knock him unconscious suggests that it would be at least three inches thick (7.5 cm). Remember that the best suits of armor ("White" armor) weighed more than 70, and sometimes as many as 130 pounds (about 28-50 kilos), and that they were no where near that thick.

Easier to aim that way...

Stormies may also have been trained to shoot without helmets during training, so it is habit that they go into aiming poses to fire. The reason for doing that is if your helmet malfunctions you still know how to hit your target.

Better for absorbing recoil and getting off second and third shots faster.

I don't know who the genestealers are, but in any case: the best Medieval armor was "white armor." Once firearms came into being, armorers desperately made their armor thicker in an attempt to protect the soldiers from bullets and crossbow fire. The thickest "white armor" ever got was about three-quarters of an inch, because after that it was literally impossible for a knight to be effective in combat--and it was murder on the horses. Now that I think about it, though, stormtrooper armor would have to be considerably thicker than I'm giving it credit for. .50 caliber rounds can sometimes penetrate tank armor, which is three inches thick, and the penetrating power of the spear thrown in "Lightsabers" is at LEAST as great as a .50 caliber round. I now think it would take between 10 and 25 inches of steal to duplicate the stopping power of the stormtrooper armor, but of course the material strength will still be lower.

The spear was thrown by a Rancor I take it ?

A cyborg, actually. It threw the man across a room. Not even a .50 caliber round can come close to that, even if the man was so well protected as to prevent the round from punching through him. This is short of a modern aircraft cannon, but it isn't below a .50 caliber round.
