There are too many great scenes to choose just one, but the thing that gets me each time I rewatch the OT is how good and deep a character Vader is. When I first watched it as a kid, all I really understood about him was that he was this big badass who killed admirals at a whim, but now I realize that a lot of the scenes really show his heart and soul, and that he's not as much of a monster as we thought, and things could have turned out a lot differently. Now I have an urge to go watch the OT again :)

Yeah he did. It's actually quite deliberate, not the 'physical comedy' quick double-take one expects upon hearing the term, but it's technically a double take.

My single favorite image would have to be the Rebel troops retreating from the oncoming walkers.

My favorite scene is:

How about the entireity of the first three films? :D
they were honestly that good and every scene can be watched over and over

The Emperor's arrival though is the spine chilling scene for me though....blasting out the imperial march.... :)

Gotta be the Executor in TESB. Imperial march playing (first time anyone ever heard it), Star Destroyers milling about (that was the first time we saw more than two onscreen at the same time), and suddenly this huge shadow passes over a SD bridge tower and you're thinking "What the fuck is that?" and then, boom, cut to a wide shot of Executor utterly dwarfing its attendant destroyers. That ship, by the way, is the best looking ship in the entire saga, EU included, without question, and it would be even if it weren't so utterly enormous.

Second best scene? The "oh-shit" moment where Lando turns the Falcon around and the entire Death Squadron is in view (what a surprise--another Executor scene).

For me it has to be the Death Star scenes at the end of ROTJ...the Luke, Vader, Emperor interaction was brilliant & Vader throwing hte Emperor down the shaft brings a tear to my eye...

I also like the Bounty Hunter scene in ESB as it just makes you feel that these Bounty Hunters are mean, tough SOBs...

On the subject of bad over dubs (eg: Luke cak scream) I hate the overdub just after it when Vader is walking to his shuttle...it used to be 'Bring my shuttle' in a mean, pissed off tone...

But the 'special' editions changed it to 'Alert my Star Destroyer of my arrival' or something like that & it just sounds poo...It doesnt even sound like Jimmy Jones

The Whole of the cloud city scenes. You can see Han's ears smoking coz of Lando's attitude and then the whole "They arrived right before you did, I had no choice"

I agree with you except for one part: the rescue of Han Solo. The entire time they're on Tatooine does not have a very good replay value. I often begin to watch ROJ, and then turn it off halfway through that part, or fastforward it to the Battle of Endor.

hehe...seriously, does anybody know what Vader says after getting hit by Luke in the shoulder? It sounds like "portuha" to me.

The duel in Cloud City is probably my favorite, though from the new trilogy it would have to be where you first see the mass clone army at the end of AOTC.
