The suppression of Kashyyyk was once supposed to have taken place shortly before ANH (it seems that Wookiee slave labor, the Death Star, the Tarkin Doctrine, and the rise of Tarkin and his technocrats have always been identified together by franchise writers). However, with the moving back of many aspects of the Empire (the creation of Moffs of the Empire, Tarkin's creation as a Moff of the Empire, the initiation of the Death Star project, and Tarkin's supervision of said project) have all been moved back considerably, to shortly following Revenge of the Sith. It seems preferable to only have one suppression and conquest of Kashyyyk at Tarkin's hands, and this has been moved back by Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader to bare weeks or perhaps a month after the events of Revenge of the Sith, and barring other pressing circumstances or context, Leland Chee's policy is to take more modern sources as the authoritative interpretation. Holocron policy, parsimony, and good sense encourage a synthesis whereby the conquest occurs once, and that is during the events of Dark Lord (keep in mind, "Pax Empirica - The Wookiee Annihilation" depicts the story of a decoy force sacrificed to distract from and aid the operations of the main force; suggested here to be the invasion depicted openly in Dark Lord).VT-16 wrote:What's the source for that time frame? I've heard it's only a few years before ANH, not right after ROTS."Pax Empirica - The Wookiee Annihilation," that story takes place concurrently with the suppression of Kashyyyk depicted in Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader, bare months if not weeks after the Declaration of a New Order and Palpatine's acclamation as Galactic Emperor as depicted in Revenge of the Sith.

For one thing, Darth Vader is not well-known in the story, and is still in the process of adjusting to his prosthetics.VT-16 wrote:What's the source for that time frame? The "Pax Empirica - The Wookiee Annihilation" stormtroopers are not engaged in garrison-defense COIN operations.

I noticed the specter of United Federation of Planets-level utopianism in the description of the Old Republic.
It's a good thing the prequels and their associated media depicted corruption and scheming among the Senators, i.e., made them human (relatively speaking) instead of lifeless representatives of George Lucas' ideals.Darth Vader Lives! wrote:The galaxy was then ruled by the wise members of the Senate who always put the people's wishes before their own.
Please do not make Americans fight giant monsters.
Those gun nuts do not understand the meaning of "overkill," and will simply use weapon after weapon of mass destruction (WMD) until the monster is dead, or until they run out of weapons.
They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)
