The Jedi at the Geonosian arena really should've had Jedi battle armor.

I hope the last battle in the beginning of Episode III has ground combat w/ armored Jedi Knights.

I once saw an EXCELLENT concept render for a Jedi armor suit for their use in the Clone Wars. Sets the stage for Vader's appearance and all.

Publius wrote:As noted, the Jedi traditional garb is a non-binding tradition. At least three Jedi Knights seen in the film Attack of the Clones wear distinctively different fashions: Aayla Secura, Luminara Unduli, and Barriss Offee wore quite different styles, the former wearing a form-fitting, rather brief outfit, and the latter two wearing more elaborate cowls and vestments of finer material and darker colour than the Jedi norm.
Anakin and Ki-Adi Mundi also wear more different, leathery outfits. And IIRC, the Jedi onboard the Gunship that gets wasted off the starboard side of Yoda's gunship as they leave the Arena was dressed in very dark clothes.

I too hope to see battle armor in EIII, but I'm not holding my breath.

Armor would restrict their movements, which wouldn't be too helpful.

That's a compromise that's been made numerous times in history. I refer you to Samurai or European Knights, two genres of soldier who are quite similar to Jedi, and, more often than not, very well-armored.

Understand that Luke "Jedi gear" is canon. The ROTJ novelisation indicates that this is the "Jedi Uniform".

If the first three movies haven't made ROTJ novelisation wrong, then, what kind of Jedi will wear this uniform?Or what uniform is it?Is it a dress uniform for more formal occasions?Doubt it.We see them in the Senate with those robes.

Is it a leisure uniform, like the half-U or PT kits in the army or the robes of the type worn by monks in training vs the attire worn by monks in mediation?
