Is it from Dark Empire, or? :?
No, strangely enough it's from WEG, weird how they got the scale somewhat right for once.

 Maybe they were told to? I still hate them for the Executor's length and name...
Lì ci sono chiese, macerie, moschee e questure, lì frontiere, prezzi inaccessibile e freddure
Lì paludi, minacce, cecchini coi fucili, documenti, file notturne e clandestini
Qui incontri, lotte, passi sincronizzati, colori, capannelli non autorizzati,
Uccelli migratori, reti, informazioni, piazze di Tutti i like pazze di passioni...

We have 1.000.000 member worlds in the Empire, from the canon.
Now, there is no problem with that and the territorial coverage of the Galaxy. The hyperdrive allows to travel in any place on the order of millions of c. The 1.000.000 planets are scattered through the whole Galaxy. Of course, an unknown number of colonies exists. And an unknown number of worlds which are not in the Empire. The population of SW galaxy may well be fine within population of 100 quadrillion and 51 million systems
51 million systems relates to the Galaxy, so unknown number of them presumably is non-imperial and unknown number of them maybe colonies, correct me if I'm wrong.
Yes there is 1 million member worlds. The 50 million colonies, protectorates etc comes from WEG and describes the how many are in the republic, I increaesed this number to show the empire being highly expansionist. The republic only seems to expand mainly to the mid rim and a small way into the outer rim whist the empire seems to have the republic teritory plus all the outer rim. I see planets in the republic era partitioning for membership, much like the federation in Star Trek, and the empire just conquering whatever worlds it wants. I ended up with around 1,060,700 member worlds and around 63,700,000 colonies, protectorates and governships. The other number the several billion where for privately own planets, for mining etc and waste of space planets like tattooine, that dont seem to serve any purpose.
