In other movies, 3-D could be good if executed properly, but I don't think Star Wars would benefit overly. (Though I have to admit, a 3-D battle of Endor would be good)Chardok wrote:I dunno, 3I, I saw Ice Pirates in 3-d as a kid in the movie theatre, and it was great! Though only one part stands out in my head when a ship flies towards the camera and the it gos offscreen towards the audience. I almost shit my pants! 3-D was awesome, and I'd like to see another revival of sorts.
Star Wars in 3-D?

LOL...ah Chardok...nice to see a few people who have seen the grandiose that is Ice Pirates(now there was a campy sci-fi film at it's greatest).
As for the CGI vs 3D...seriously Shinova, yes people on the street do acknowledge a difference or the acronym CGI would not be used.

Hmmm, last year I saw a 3D film at my local IMAX theater and it kicked ass.
Was the most fantastic cinema experience (visually) I'd had in years, and made me forget the fact that I was merely watching a 90 minute documentary about the International Space Station.
The effect is much better than I remember "Jaws" being with the cardboard glasses (but then I was a little kid at the time, so it could be I was just too young to appreciate it).
The glasses (which are more like Rayban sunglasses and quite comfortable) didn't give me a headache, but it took about 30 seconds for my eyes to re-adjusted once I took them off after leaving the theater.
Even though the SW films were not produced in 3D, a 3D IMAX experience would totally rock and I'd definately pay a premium ticket price to see them.
When I was in Toronto I saw AOTC at the IMAX theater there, and had a great time (even if it was only "2-D"). ; )

You can get 3D screens at the moment where you don't need glasses. They put a fine grid over the screen and you are shown two slightly different images. Apparently a few mobile phones are on sale in Japan that use them. Supposedly in a few years you'll be able to get monitors that will be made like this, a 3D first person shooter would be superb.
You can get your 3D effect w/ glasses now on any DirectX game (Opengl too?) if you have an nVidia card. Look it up on the nVidia site.Soulman wrote:You can get 3D screens at the moment where you don't need glasses. They put a fine grid over the screen and you are shown two slightly different images.
