Is it just me, or does Jack Nicholson seem perfect for that role??

I would also say Peter Cushing if he didn't play Tarkin.

Jack would be a great choice if it wasn't for his smile...might I suggest Gary Busey is looking for work (hin hint)

IIRC, he had some spoken parts in the opening scene of TIE fighter. Why don't they make a Computer generated Thrawn and use that guy from TIE fighter to do the voice?

That guy could play Rukh. They wouldn't even need much make up

Kenneth Branagh, you guys. He can do it all. Just going to need lots and lots of makeup.

If you wanna bring in actors who could "do it all", then I'd also have to suggest Kevin Spacey. Give him the sinister air he had in Se7en, and the mystery he had in K-Pax, and the brilliance he had in... well... every fuckin' thing he does, and you got your Thrawn.

Sorry SPOOFE, but I have to agree with Carcharodon on this one. Kenneth Branagh would be perfect. He's old enough to show the necessary age without much make-up, and he can be evil. "Conspiracy" anyone?

I'd have to go with Walkin after seeing him in Privateer 2. He definitely pulls off the enigmatic, spooky guy who nobody really knows what he's up to role. Besides, who else has never played anything BUT a villain (that I know of)?

After watching LOTR again i have to say that Agent Smith gets my vote, the guy is so cool. I can just see him in the white uniform giving orders to Pellaeon, who was a doofus might I add.

Aw, thats a bit harsh on Pellaeon. Sure he was no hot-shot officer, but he did what he could to survive the Empires fall, attempted to maintain order and discpline on ship and didnt lose his head completely and managed to escape endor with his ship and crew intact ( minus the captain). And he cant have been a complete potato at command if thrawn kept him around.
Plus he remained loyal to the ideals of the Empire. That counts for something in my book
True he turned into a putz with Daala, but thats KJA for you

Everyone in the Star Wars universe drops fifty IQ points or so when KJA's name appears on the cover.

Pellaeon was a good, loyal but not brilliant officer. He did the best he could.

John Lithgow
Yes John Lithgow is awesome. Cliffhanger may have been a terrible movie but he exceled as the villan.. Cunning, sinister, well-spoken and can pull off the character quite well physically. THE perfect man for Thrawn.

Isn't he the guy from Batman Returns? Because if so, he has played a non-villain before.

Personally, I kinda considered Max Shreck a villain, since he was the one who created Catwoman and supported the Penguin. He was sort of the mastermind behind the whole thing, moving the Penguin into power so he could build the power plant.

I do take back the non-villain comment, though, because of The Deer Hunter, The Dead Zone, and The Mind Snatchers, along with Fatboy Slim's music video "Weapon of Choice". He's just much better known as a villain.

Please to excuse my ignorance, but seeing as how my experience with EU was reading half of Splinter of the Mind's Eye twenty four years ago, am I to assume that KJA has worked his way into SW fan's hearts the way he has with Dune?

He continuely questioned Thrawns orders and was a general wuss. he had the rebel fleet out gunned and out matched at KDY and he abandoned his post, then he commited the criminal act of participating in the Empires civil war. The Fleet officers should have been attacking the Rebels not each other, and as Vice-Admiral to one such warlord he had a duty to end the pointless war. Then he had the gall to surrender to the Rebels. The man isn't fit to lead the Navy.

No. Thrawn was Timothy Zahn's brainchild, who at the time was roughly one hundred times the writer KJA claims to be. KJA has his (very rare) decent writings, but they tend to be few and far between, with maybe two or three books that aren't painful to read. I have them just to try to get some sort of meaningful data out of them, but it's rather depressing to see how poor an author can render Star Wars.

Actually I'd say this swedish guy, Dolph Lundgren, he kinda looks like him from a certain angle, somewhat.
Though I am not sure he's good at much beyond action, death and destruction...

If not him, then Ah-nuld :D
