Well finished the Ruin duology and starting Hero's Trial.

The ruin books were a hell of a lot better than Vector Prime, I liked how the things were handled, I wasn't bored through long portions of it like in Vector Prime(she's sick, I get it), I liked the characters more, I liked the Vong a lot more, I liked that they were both adjusting to each others style of warfare.

So far I haven't been too impressed with Hero's Trial, but I'm not that far into it.

You shouldn't be that impressed with Hero's Trial. It, along with Balance Point, makes the largest concentration of "blah" in the series.

Jizz orcestra? WISKEY TANGO MOTHERFUCKING FOXTROT!

Ok, I understand he wants to allude to jazz, but what fucking kind of dipshit would do that and expect the book to be taken seriously. I swear I almost droped the duology right there to move on to balance point.

See, that's the trouble with letting KJA be taken seriously as a writer for a series, it infects other author's brains.

Well, I found BP interesting because of Mara's pregnancy and the fact that Kathy Tyers was writing it helped give insight to those of us who cannot bear children and what t must be like to carry a living, breathing organism inside of you.

I find that the whole NJO depended on your taste. If you primarily saw SW as a way to escape the harshness of reality, then you would not like it that much. If on the other hand you're a fan of long-term story arcs, then at least I found it enjoyable. Seeing the SW galaxy get a much-needed shakeup (I mean, there's only so much that you can do with Imperial comebacks and superweapons) was worth the course of 5 years and $300 (I bought VP, BP, SbS, DW, and TUF all in hardback form). For me at least, it was an epic series that helped to make my personal life a little more interesting (alongside being one of the inspirations for writing my ST/\SW crossover).

Well that's why you have the quote from Swordfish.
