Hey Bean, since you wanted to know:

The Glove of Darth Vader
The Lost City of the Jedi
Mission from Mount Yoda
Prophets of the Dark Side
Queen of the Empire

and Zorba the Hutt's Revenge

were written by Paul and Hollace Davids from 1992 to 1993.

I've only read the reviews at TheForce.Net, but believe me, it was more than enough. I believe those are the only Star Wars books that are considered to be appocryphal (eg, Never Ever Happened).

That were over before they even began (they were told in past-tense, for reasons which have NEVER been clear to me). The BFC also said that slugthrowers make up some heavy artillery pieces and that they can be used on starfighters, it introduced the K-Wing for no reason WHATSOEVER, and it's boring side-plot with Lando went absolutely nowhere while the obnoxious, snooty 3P0 and R2 were cussed out by Lobot (also for no reason).

The best mark, though, of BFC's terribleness is the fact that, while KJA's books have characters continuing through the SW saga to this day, NONE of BFC's characters have even seen another book. I don't even think that they made it into the Essential Guides (except for the Yevetha and Nil Spaar)!

I'm not saying that KJA's books were great, and I'm not saying that Stackpole sucks. I really liked Isard's Revenge, and I REALLY liked Dark Tide (especially Dark Tide I). I thought of I, Jedi, as a book that had about 75 pages of information crammed into 600. On the other hand, ALL of my friends have really liked it. I read some reviews of it on Amazon, and it seemed to really polarize people. Everyone either hated it or absolutely loved it, and there was really no middle-ground. I don't know. I don't RECOMMEND I, Jedi, but I also wouldn't tell anyone off if they told me that they were going to buy it.

I hated BFC with a passion.

I've never even read those, and I OWN every single other SW book. I once saw them in the book store and decided that GL wouldn't even get ME to fork over the five bucks for one of those. Maybe I'll get 'em someday from a used book store, but from what I've heard about them online they're not worth the ONE dollar.

I think I need to add a few more EU books. Darth Maul Shadow Hunter. Damn, that's a smooth name, it's written by none other than the genius that does Batman the animated series. The book sucked. Horriably. Approaching Storm was written by Alan Dean Foster who ghost wrote ANH novelisation, damn that book was horriable. Truce at Bakura, Courtship of Princess Leia, Children of the Jedi, The Correlian trilogy was not that good. BFC I'll agree sucked for the most part. It did have a few great fleet battles. However, the NR is ready to get it's ass handed over, and due to the SSD being overthrown and leaving they win. Star Trek folks. Vector Prime was crap too. In fact, I said the Ep II novel wouldn't be as good as the other four, and I was right. It dragged.

Whcih Black Fleet Crisis were you reading? The first chapter of Before the Storm is told entierly in present tense, the confrontation at Dorniik 319 was told all in present tense, the conflict at ILC-905 was told about 80% in present tense, the conflict at the Yvethat Homeworld was told again 80% present tense. The fact that there are exceprts that seem to come from after the battle does not chagne the fact that we are given commentary in an as it happens way.

The BFC also said that slugthrowers make up some heavy artillery pieces and that they can be used on starfighters, it introduced the K-Wing for no reason WHATSOEVER,
The K-Wing serves a VITAL role that the NR previously did not have fufilled, that of the heavy bomber. the B-Wing is a tactical bomber but it doesn't have the payload to carry big boys like the T-33 "Egg." the K-Wing is the medium bomber of the carrier taskforce while the b-Wing is the Fighter/Bomber. Each has its uses but the K-Wing is very dedicated and very vital to a balanced carrier force.

and it's boring side-plot with Lando went absolutely nowhere while the obnoxious, snooty 3P0 and R2 were cussed out by Lobot (also for no reason).
Now this I agree with.
The best mark, though, of BFC's terribleness is the fact that, while KJA's books have characters continuing through the SW saga to this day, NONE of BFC's characters have even seen another book. I don't even think that they made it into the Essential Guides (except for the Yevetha and Nil Spaar)!
Incorrect completely. A'baht, Brand, and Nylykerka all appear in the NJO to greater and lesser degrees. As to his other characters well I don't know about Maj. Sorannan but Nil Spaar is dead as is Plat Mallar which means of the six original semi-main characters he created two are dead, one if MIA, and the other three appear in the NJO.

"Have you even read the Black Fleet Crisis? If you haven't then don't. No one should buy those books."

Amen, brother. Preach on.

"I really didn't like I, Jedi, either. Everyone else did, though, so maybe I'm just weird and don't know good writing when I see it. "

No, your opinions mirror mine. I, Jedi is the vessel crafted to allow Michael... oh, pardon, of course I meant Corran... CORRAN Stackpole to live out his fantasy about becoming a Jedi in addition to being an ace pilot, a loving father, an outstanding operative, a marksman and one hell of a stamp collector. With the concept of character boosting reaching new heights and the first genuine example of story hijacking I've ever encountered, it's actually remarkable that Stackpole manages to soil the ending as well. In short, I disliked this book.

"The worst, though, had to be the Black Fleet Crisis."

Oh, agreed. It stayed on my "to hate" - list for over a year.

Children's books don't have to suck. I consider Philip Pullman's work to rank among the best Fantasy stories ever written.

Where does one start? Hmm there are far too many to list! So I will take a different view, anything not written by Zahn will be a good start. Other books will just tend to get worse after reading his books. But if I had to pick one.... I guess it would have to be KJA series. Only because unlike other authors who wrote dribble, he kept writting more! The others had the decency to stop!

The only real decent SW EU books are Zahn and a few, very few of the Stackpole/NJO books.

Screw you too, here and back on ASVS. Black Fleet Crisis had some of the best EU moments. The last 200 pages of Tyrant's Test were some of the best in the bits from the entirety of the EU.
