Hey, Yoda's 900 years old, and he's more renowned as the wisest. And besides, Palpatine is a hundred bajillion years old and he can make worm holes, so age really isn't an issue. And any good enough Jedi/Sith can deflect Force lightning.

Well, I bring up the age issue as a VERY obscure reference to Episode One's novelization where it is mentioned that Qui-Gon (who is presumably more skilled all around in the Force because of his age and experience) was getting tired (the Force wasn't sustaining him like an endless reserve of energy and strength) after fighting with someone like Maul who was so much younger.

As seen at the end of the fight when he had to gimp around on his cane. Yoda is just much stronger with the Force, and can compensate much better.
