Succumb to the dark side of purchasing and get yourself the VD, ICS and the new Insider too. Lucas doesn't haven't enough flanel in his closet.

If Palpatine did that, and was somehow counting on Anakin to do anything, he'd be in a fairly risky position.

Tatooine isn't the safest planet. Anakin has a fair chance of getting killed, what with the tuskens, the fact that he's a slave, the pod races. You'd think that if he was created by Palpatine, through any means, that he would want to keep Anakin safer.

Unless you want to add that Palpatine had a bunch of spies protecting Anakin without anyone knowing.

I can see Palpy creating Anakin.

As a guy who trusted his prescient abilities quite a bit, he may have forseen his need for this Skywalker and so he created one.

Which leads to an interesting precog-loop:

Palpy's visions let him know he needs Anakin in the future, so he creates Anakin, whose destiny is to destroy him. Ironically he created his own assassin. talk about 'betrayed by the Force'.

Good to go, but for the last two months the local book store has been sold out of insider. What a pain the ass.

It's possible that that information is from an outdated draft. I'd prefer to wait and find out how old it is and whether it's been eliminated.

Because I don't remember that being mentioned in the screenplay discussions over at MF.com. If it was still in the script, it would have most certainly been brought up. Not to mention being in the graphic novel and novelisation.

Spanky The Dolphin wrote:This stupid and tired "theory" is not only retarded and representative of lazy thinking, it completely ignores and contradicts the established mythological intentions behind Anakin being conceived by the Force as the Chosen One: he is essentially a Christ figure.
He is still conceived by the Force according to this old draft. Now that my shock is going a little, this makes sense even if it is something that makes it to the movie. Why is it objectionable that something "good" can come out of bad? Mythologically, "Bad" (Satan) came out of "Good" (God) - or so the story should have been, but its actual content is less than convincing ... anyway. If that is so, then the reverse could also be true.

Only problem is that there was absolutely no sign of this in TESB and ROTJ. If Sidious tries this "daddy" trick with Vader and Vader tries this "daddy" trick with Luke, why doesn't Sidious tell Luke he's effectively his grand-daddy? SUrely the shock would have helped push Luke over the edge, and it'd even be true.

Can you quote that stuff? Does that mean that Sidious could have met Yoda's challenge in Dark Rendezvous (at least on a literal level) about making him a rose?

That piece that darthnidankendo quoted is not in the final draft.

So I heard. But what happens to stuff in older drafts? What happens to the trailers that never make it into the final film? They obviously aren't G-canon, but do they have any status? What is the board's consensus on this?

But never mind. I'm honestly curious why you are so revolted about the idea that Palpy created his own archnemesis? :D

I was only concerned about it's canonicity. It struck me as something from either an outdated draft or something that was just made up, particularly since darthnidankendo didn't give a source citation other than merely a page number. So I went over to Wayne's thread where it turns out this came from and asked about its nature and context. Turns out a lot of stuff in that thread, including the statement in question, is from earlier drafts, since it's from a book about the making of the film.

For the record, story treatments, outlines, and preceeding script drafts don't have any canon status, not even as apocrypha, since they represent only the developmental process, rather than the final resulting product.

You'd be hard pressed to argue that something that has been removed from a canon source has much standing, especially if it's something major like "Palpy Force-boinked Shmi". There's no way something that big was chopped for editing or pacing reasons; its removal has to be a deliberate story choice.

It's in the making of book, but the author states that his making of the book was a day by day process and things would be different in the end by quite a bit.

That technically isn't a spoiler, because it's from an old draft.

No there wasn't. :P

Besides, Trioculus wasn't Force-sensitive (he used technology to make it look like he was), and wasn't actually the son of Palpatine: Triclops was, but there's no evidence he was Force-sensitive either.

But since those books are complete bullshit and essentially apocryphal, I assume you only brought them up to further your lazy n00b purist vendetta...

Or what, you'll type up another retarded post? oops too late. There are established rules and procedures in this board, ones set up by the moderators and admins, rules that state spoilers in a non spiler thread should have the text shrunk to 1pt, try reading them before i knock you the fuck off your high horse you uppity wee cunt.

This is why we need a spolier tag. Something that simply blacks out text in it and so it has to be highlighted to read. Its hardly difficult to implement.
The 1pt text is just horribly annoying to read, especially when there's a load of posts.

But how is it a spoiler when it's FROM AN OLD DRAFT AND NOT IN THE FINAL SCRIPT?

That hadn't established when i read the bloody thing. Serriously just because some of you are spoiler whores and can't sleepl without knowing what colour boxers Hayden is wearin while in the Vader suit doesn't mean all of are, and neither do i feel i should drop of of EP3 speculation threads just because some uppity n00b thinks he owns the pissing board. AFAICT this was a threas speculation about the Palpy/Annie relationship not yet another spoiler thread.
